    Re: Joke Job

Good point - simpler is better. I like mechanically controlled diesels, like the Chev 6.2 or the Land Rover 2.4L from the S3. Easier to wrench on yourself and hard-wearing.
  2. Re: Where did everyone go? Some feedback from a former forum member.

Wut? Is Nacho Vidal arisen from the depths of Hades?

    Re: Where did everyone go?

I still see a familiar name or two from the days right after Nacho Vidal pulled the pin on the older board. That event did create tighter clusters around a particular campfire; not that that was a...

    Re: Joke Job

A '92 truck? Might it not be better, in the longer term, to continue to live minimally (think 'grey man') and save for a newer vehicle?
  5. Re: What you really need to be afraid of when you get in an airplane (Female Pilot or 'Traffic Control?)

Meh - not just wahmenz, not just planes.

There was a pretty bad rail crash a few years ago, somewhere in Europe, where a high-speed train took a curve too fast (faster than the posted speed limit)...

    Re: Hi fellow hero-myth agents!

Damn that Wall of Text - hard on my old eyes.
    Insert some line breaks.
  8. Sticky: Re: Testimonial and a few words of encouragement from some old man [long post]

Another 'thank you someoldman48' - that was a mighty powerful testimonial; I had almost the same experience and sense of frustration 20 years later.

    Re: Hey guys, I'm Cable.

Welp, seems like Cable didn't get the message.

  10. Re: Grown woman avoids jail after sexual contact with minor

Seems pretty clear that the bint involved has an emotional maturity of a 14-year old too.

Re: How have you defined what a man is?

A Man is one who makes his own path in life, and walks upon it.
  12. Re: Why do married men try to set you up with a woman?

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Perhaps it's a natural response, when one realizes that one is in a shitty, inescapable situation; drag a few others down to your level to alleviate the...
  13. Re: Woman pours boiling water on sleeping boyfriend and records it on Snapchat, cops say

Playing Devil's Advocate, for a second, one wonders whether this might be rank stupidity rather than malice; like, she genuinely didn't understand what boiling water would do.

    Re: What should women do?

I've often thought that men typically wanted just three things from a woman he was 'involved' with (apart from sex): her adoration of him; her submission to him; her awe in him.

Re: Mixed feelings about this guy....

I revise my opinion downwards, severely downwards, after scrolling through the whole pic set at those Daily Mail links - she is porkily below average.
  17. Re: The consequences of stupidity and immorality

That's a pithily urgent summation of the entire Wu-flu pandemic issue; and terrifying to boot.
Something bad is around the corner. I don't want to be doom-and-gloom about this, but it's hard to see...

Re: High Credit Score? Don't take the bate!

Keep in mind that the entire basis of Western capitalist consumerism is gynaecentric - it is aimed at women with either their own disposable income or access to a partner's income. Look at the...

Re: Mixed feelings about this guy....

Meh - I'd say, with some generosity, she's a UK 6.5 at best.
  20. Re: Is buying electrical surge protection insurance for my appliances worth it?

Look at replacement cost; AC compressor units can run a pretty penny to replace. Weigh up those expenses against the inconvenience of not having the thing.

Re: Harry and Megan Domestic Bliss?

Welp, there's a tradition among the Mountbatten-Windsor men that has to be kept up. Harry was merely emulating his famous great-grand-uncle, King Edward VIII. Eddy wasn't so steady at this royal...
  24. Re: Women cuts off her hand and imprisoned for insurance fraud.

Don't get it - the text says the hand was reattached; the video shows her lower left arm & hand covered. What's the deal?

Strange - the poster known as 'Modelautoman' at the HB forum hasn't been active in almost a year - after almost 10 years of posting.
