Toyota, because they keep in mind maintenance and the poor slobs that have to perform it, thereby lowering the overall maintenance costs, that's if they break down.
Fuck German autos, they're a fkn nightmare on their best day! Everything is "break apart" not "take apart".
America lost it's edge in the early 70's when regulations dragged them over the coals. I'd buy a brand new 60's Chrysler product with a slant 6 and 3 speed torqueflight transmission, with today's advancements in lubrication they would easily outlast anything on the road today.
Bundle up, boys, it's gonna be a long cold endless winter.
I'm all about real horsepower....

Drove an old Kia till my bad legs didn't like the cheap seats and the manual tranny no more. But it was otherwise a good ride so I stuck with it.
Till this fall. I been living quietly the last few years and was ahead some. So, I looked at a few adds and kicked some tires. The second sedan I looked at was a Hyundai Genesis, a car I never heard of before. Since it was one owner, low miles and had obviously been well cared for, I decided to take chance. I suppose that was rash, but it seemed a cut above the similarly priced cars I looked at.
What it is, of all things is a Korean pony car. V-6, six speed auto and rear wheel drive. While not a real sports car, it's very capable and easily fast enough for my sleepy State. It has every bell and whistle you ever heard of, and many I didn't know existed. You can bet it has excellent seats. I was skeptical of all that luxury crap at first but have to admit I'm quickly getting used to it. Love the heated seats.
I guess if it holds together, I was smart. If it breaks, I was dumb. I know older Kia's had their problems, but they were eventually fixed and now their solid cars. Since Kia's and Hyundai's are somewhat related (the company owners are brothers) I figure newer Hyundai's have a good chance of holding up too. Guess we'll find out.

Every day I make the world a little bit worse.
As MGTOW, resistance to the collective is NOT futile.
Don't let yourself be assimilated and become a mindless zombie supporting and submitting to any woman.
They will ultimately destroy you.
Willys CJ2A. Had one as a teenager. Went everywhere with it. Had the best fun of my life with that jeep. Kept a small tool box under the passenger seat with an old coil, set of old points and a condensor, extra plugs ( one cyl oiled up!)old spanners and handful of bolts and nuts..Oh, and a pair of fencing pliers. If the spring hanger broke, or exhaust, such as it was, parted ways, a nearby farmer unwittingly donated part of his fence, and off I went....
No electronics, was so light, u could push it if the battery was dead. If the ign switch or starter solenoid gave up, out with a screw driver , bridged the starter terminals. No worries. Did replace that horrible generator with an alternator though.
Absolute freedom.
I now have a newish 4 door Honda....soulless vehicle, I hardly drive it, and a 25 yr old Japanese Diesel pickup....simply a fast tractor.....everything's manual, no electronics.....wouldn't swop it for the world, best thing about it is not a single woman looks twice at me in it. I literally can fly under the radar. Again.....total freedom!!!
A second generation Scirocco was one of my favorites. Though from humble roots, it rewarded skill and bravery like no other car I ever drove. It could beat many a fancier rig. Trouble was, half the drivers of these upscale cars didn't like being passed by a VW, and we would both grow little devil horns and tail. Fun it might have been, but it was also putting my license at risk, so it had to go. The guy who took it over did no better, he sold it to a guy who collects them. I guess Germans drive hard.
One of my bigger screw up happened in the late seventies. Japanese cars were coming on strong. You could get a new Toyota or a Datsun pickup for three thousand and change, and with normal care they would easily go two hundred thousand miles. What was I driving then? Outdated and half worn out air-cooled Volkswagen junk, that's what. The first was a Karman Ghia, king of the air-cooled VW's. That one was worth it, but it eventually got killed in a wreck. The bug and the camper van, I should never have got stuck into those.

Toyota. I drive a 2005 4Runner as my personal vehicle. Love it!
