    Video: Our Beautiful World

    Need some stress relief?

The Foundation for a Better Life started in 1999. Their website states:

Our sole objective is to promote positive values and encourage viewers to Pass Them On. We communicate these values through inspiring messages in movie theatres, on television, billboards, radio and the internet.

The advertising time and space for these messages is donated by broadcast and print media companies as a public service.

They accept no money nor give money. They have no membership. They are not affiliated with any religious group or political viewpoint, directly or indirectly. They provide materials for free. It appears they want to stay above reproach. Good for them.

I tell you all that to strip you of any cynicism that what's coming is trying to slip something in on you.

Each video, or TV spot, emphasizes a different human value or virtue. Each provides a song donated by the artist. These videos are generally well-done and are designed to be uplifting. I have enjoyed several of their spots on TV over the years, although I run into them nowadays less than before. Perhaps you have seen any of them over the years. I do not know if they get shown outside of the USA.

I first encountered them back in 2013 when they ran a certain 90-second spot on TV, one that was about appreciating our planet. Each time it came on, I stopped what I was doing to watch it all the way through. The spot is titled Our Beautiful World. Many of the geographic images they capture in it are magnificent and the photography just blows me away. Combined with their choice of music accompaniment, it is the most beautiful video composition I have ever seen for its purity of message. To this day, its effect on me never wears out.

I present it to you here, for your appreciation. I know singer John Denver is not everyone's taste but it's great musicality. The lyrics have been repurposed as a love song to Planet Earth so don't think I went blue pill on you. Whoever put this together did a bang-up job. For us older fellows, see if you can spot the apparent homage to Iron Eyes Cody from the impactful environmental TV commercial of the 70s.

The one you find on youtube is low-res, probably captured from someone's TV. The one here is hi-res from their website.

It's best viewed when maximized to fill a large PC screen and with the volume turned up on a good sound system.

    Our Beautiful World

You might find yourself taken in by it, which is its intent.
The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. - Mark Twain

The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.
    - Henry David Thoreau

    Re: Video: Our Beautiful World

That was nice, but nothing will erase my memory of the Passaic River shoreline at low tide on Harrison bend adjacent to Newark NJ, circa 1970 (you'd swear the Exxon Valdez and a few others happened there). It's where I re-coined the word "bluck".
Bundle up, boys, it's gonna be a long cold endless winter.
