If a vaccinated person's health doesn't stay perfect, they use the irrational post-hoc to "prove" that the vaccine is dangerous.
Imagine some guy buys a new shirt of his favorite football team. After that, his team goes undefeated and wins the Super Bowl. Did his new shirt cause all those victories? Of course it didn't. His team just happened to go on a hot streak, and would have regardless of the dude's shirt.
The vaccine doesn't cure you of every ailment. It creates antibodies against a specific one, meaning your immune system has much, much more than it would have had to fight off that specific disease. It doesn't even guarantee that the person won't catch that particular disease. That's mainly due to a virus mutating. That's another long, complicated subject, but suffice it to say, getting a vaccinated greatly increases your odds of beating a specific disease. Millions of people would have died without vaccine technology. People used to have something like 12 kids because they knew various contagious diseases would likely wipe many of them out.
Be happy that you've never had the measles, polio, smallpox, or a whole host of infectious diseases that used to be common, and are now either rare or eliminated.
When I was a kid, I "cured" a bunch of warts by putting vitamin E oil on them. They went away, and so I was a believer. I had finally found something to get rid of my warts. Years later, I noticed that vitamin E wasn't working on some new warts I got. It was only a post hoc that I had believed in. My warts went away after I used the vitamin E, but that's not what cured them. I found out that warts normally go away on their own after you've had them for a time period. So that must be what happened. They were toward the end of their cycle; I put vitamin E on them; they went away, and I thought the vitamin E did it.
The anti-vax crowd is doing the public a huge disservice. Vaccines protect the public best when at least 90% of the public gets them. Those loons need to take a a Biology 1 college course.
The vaccine does have some side effects. It will make your arm sore. It might temporarily make you feel feverish. That's a good thing. You feel that way because your immune system is creating the antibodies that protect you. It does NOT cause you to have a heart attack, a stroke, or to grow an extra penis.
