My 1997 Jaguar XJ6 L (X330) will be back on the road tomorrow afternoon!

It has been about eight weeks since I replaced the spark plugs and Coil Packs on the "Big Cat" I ran worse than ever until I took it to Dr. Auto in Warren, OR (halfway between Scappoose and St Helens, OR on US Highway 30).

It was determined that I has confused the ignition wires between #5 and #6 cylinders. After that had been rectified, they determined that I needed a new battery. (All told it ran me 1/2 hour of labor and a new battery). This came to $285.55 USD.

I'll give the Cat a proper bath and it will be "good to go".

Here's how the car looks in red.

Mine is what Jaguar calls "Topaz". (A light, gold color).

Its a beautiful car, isn't it? (It is a direct competitor to the BMW 740iL). In 1997 it was $63,800 USD when new.

I was out in my XJ6 L after church and the Fred Meyer gasoline pump attendant complimented my on both my Jacket and the "Big Jag". There's nothing quite like outshining most people around you by dressing well and driving a 25-year-old car that doesn't look old and worn out.

Come next Friday, I will be taking my best friend, and his grandson out for Sushi and Cuban Cohiba Cigars (I brought them back from Puerto Nuevo, Mexico the last time I ran south).

Needless to say, they'll be smoking the cigars outside the Jaguar as a part of their celebration.

Life is good when you can help a young man celebrate a bit of bachelorhood!

My "fun" car is a 1997 Lexus SC400. The mid- to late-1990s was the best era for cars in many ways, in my opinion. A guy at the parts store offered to buy it, which I find rather funny considering how old it is, but these cars still have their fans. I'd be happier if it didn't have a bit of rust in the back quarter panel from a poorly-done accident repair under the previous owner, but I'll fix that someday. I know how (used to work at a restoration / hot-rod shop), just don't have the time or inclination to deal with it right now.
