    Kindle/eReader vs physical book

    What is your preference?

I live in a very small room so I have a Kindle for alot of classics. Mostly cost me $2 or less, mostly free.

Physical books I used to buy, read, then trade. Doesn't seem anyone really reads for pleasure anymore.

I found a box of old Fantasy & Science Fiction magazines in my basement I was given 20 years ago and never got around to them. What a pleasant surprise. See, I was in my dad's basement looking for some black and orange paint to steal and I opened the wrong box. Must be 50-70 magazines. Not comics. Those digests of short stories before everything went woke. These range from around 1985-1990 or so. Before the internet was big.

I'm currently in detox at home for the next two weeks so these should get me through.

You guys like to read? I like it more than movies. My imagination is better than any director.

I can go either way. On a train, the kindle/iphone is more convenient. But I don't mind old school books as well. I used to read a lot more than I do now, not sure why I stopped really. I won't buy books old school or electronic for standard price though.

I agree about books being better than movies. I have read a few books that were made into films and I thought their choice of actors was bad or they change the story too much etc. I tend to prefer how I imagine it and the story the way the author intended it as opposed to some director who probably never read the book anyway.

I don't do Kindle either, primarily because of its Amazon DNA. I love physical books, especially the older authors. I used to buy used book from abebooks, but no more; Amazon got its slimy mitts on that operation, too. But, meh... it doesn't matter, 'cause home ownership and hobbies don't leave me time for recreational reading any more. Off topic, I couldn't date now even if I wanted to, because of all the time constraints. I mean, how much time per week would I have for her? Probably only enough to... ahem...

In regards to reading for pleasure, I have found not only with books but movies as well. I start and I can just see how it will turn out in most cases. For some reason they don't hold my interest like they used to. Not sure if that is ADD of some kind or just having read/seen too many stories and the surprise aspect is gone for me.

I should get a Kindle to go with the Barnes & Noble reader I got now.

The pictures are usually real small on a reader, if that matters. The nice part, besides the space savings, is the selection. There are many books out there that have too narrow a readership for print, but are fine for E-reading. Price is all over the place, but you don't have to buy the expensive stuff. Sometimes a higher price means a better book, but I wouldn't count on it.

I have a large physical collection, but 80% of my new acquisitions are e-books, purely for minimalist reasons. I steadily pare down my existing collection as I can. Most of the e-books I can get on sale (I monitor BookBubs) -- I have such a long "wanna read" list that I can invariably find SOMETHING I'm interested in that's also discounted at any given moment.
