All I can add is that, from what I understand, the vaccines do protect against the very worst symptoms of the condition (the end-stage respiratory problems, the stuff that puts you on a vent) and the likelihood of death. They don't do much to stop you getting or spreading it, but they do seem to be effective in protecting against death. So although he's getting worse, I think there is reason to hope that it will not progress to the end stages that take his life. In the meantime, there will be plenty of suffering and worry, though, I know.

The only help I got off the doctors was being told to rest, avoid alcohol and caffeine. Oh and sent a link to a website I'd read 2 months earlier.

It's hopeless having rock bottom energy levels while not being serious enough to get any help off the doctors. Being a relatively new condition even they are struggling.
It's not like breaking your arm knowing you will be fine in 2 months, there's that constant lingering feeling of not knowing when you are going to be right again.

I'd pick up for 3-5 days thinking I'd recovered then wake up with a sore throat or pounding headache.
Then there's the fact you don't actually look ill, constantly having to remind people at work you can't perform at the usual level or friends in the pub you are only stopping for 1 beer.

Lockdown was a breeze by comparison.

This is the bit that's really getting to him mentally - the not knowing when or even if it will end, and the feeling that people around him think he's putting it on, including his doctor.

I've tried to tell him that his doctor is probably feeling just as frustrated as him as he probably has many more similar cases that he can't be of any substantive help with.

On the plus side we had a really good chat today. 2 - 3 minutes talking about his problems (allowing him to "get it out" as it were) followed by a good hour or so of "other stuff"!

He seems to be having a good day, but as you say it comes in waves. Goodness knows what he'll be like tomorrow.

Aches and pains come with being a geezer. I had some but it was not too bad. One side effect of the virus for me was everyday aches and pains got worse. I thought they were here to stay, but after a year or so they finally got better. They lasted longer than any of the other side effects.

Well, what can I say?

He was fine until he got Covid. He DID get Covid. He knows when he contracted it, how he contracted it and who he contracted it from. There is NO doubt.

As for what he's going through now I do have my suspicions that the vax MAY complicate things, but to blame it on the vax seems disingenuous to me. If it is being caused by the vax how then do you explain the same symptoms with the unvaxxed?

Saw some posts on 4chan that caught my eye regarding a scandal with congressmen taking preventatives & or treatments that were never publicly disclosed.

Google'd the I-Mask protocols and got the summary of varying supplements & treatments - dunno if any would help but vitamins and supplements wouldn't make things worse I doubt.
