I love bleepin' burgers and fries

There's nothing quite like a good meal of burgers and fries, but damn it, that shit doesn't fit with my goal to lose a bunch of weight and get fit. Crap, when you want a burger, you really want one. Feels like an addiction. Anyone else know what I mean?

Food is now scientifically designed to sell. Our bodies and brains love fat, sugar, and salt.

So you jam that together, add some filler, a couple grill marks, and bam. Awesomeness. ‘Murica gawd dammit.

    Bad for the waist line.

It's not a problem, I can quit any time I want.
One every now and then is not going to hurt you much. I been getting mine at one of the local bars. Since a bar can't have food cutting into its customers drinking money too much, their burgers are slightly smaller than a top end restaurant's fare.

I don't like common fast-food burgers anymore. But a good one, that's a different story.
Every day I make the world a little bit worse.

I love a good cheese burger and cheese fries. That's one thing I plan on having in the future game room man cave. Among the bar and pinball and arcade games will be a restaurant style booth and I'll serve cheese burgers and cheese fries to me and my best friend while having a pinball break.

As much as I love burgers and fries, it may of contributed to my dad's heart attack, because he would grill them with bratwurst or Italian sausage every Sunday during the summer.
It's a man's world and we need to take it by the throat and make it give us what we desire.

It is essentially an addiction...both physically and mentally. You get a dopamine hit with the deliciousness (fat/sugar/salt), and your body chemistry "sends out" cravings as well. Evolutionary perspective is important - as Dang said - those 3 items weren't always readily available for most of human history.

When we started the farm, I did a deep dive on nutrition for marketing purposes based on our production practices. Interesting stuff...basically your gut microbiome is "intelligent" and will send out cravings for what you feed it most. Feed it good stuff, it wants more of that, feed it bad stuff...same.

I've been mostly carnivore for several years and it was an interesting transition...initially had intense cravings for all things sweet (bread/fruit etc), but that quickly passed and all I wanted was ribeyes. It's been great though...I still have fruit and sometimes veg every day, bread etc occasionally, but all based on listening to my body. I know when I need the nutrients/sugars etc from fruits.

Not religious about it...still have pizza once a week or so, and just had a fast food burger meal Sunday night. They are delicious, but I don't have the same intense cravings for them anymore either, as they are a rarity in my diet.

I've been carnivore for several years as well. Highly recommend if anyone wants to check it out. But carnivores don't rant about their WOE like vegans where those soy boys just can't shut up about their disastrous diet.

I follow Dr Saladino's advice where he says that cheat days are meaningless because you're essentially cheating on your self. Eating trash should never be a "reward" because eating healthy IS the reward. Having said that, I still break this WOE a bit during the holidays, without ever getting out of control.

The best burgers and fries I get are from the family-owned Italian restaurant I go to. McDonald's? What's that?

That, my friend, is the finest in Scottish cuisine.

I also sell bridges in New York, and ocean front property in AZ, OK, KS, & NE.

Mc Donald's buys sickly cattle that have tumors and other abnormalities that restrict market value. Like cows that graze downwind in cesium hotspots left over from the Nevada test site.

Good food is out there, you just need to seek to find it!

Bundle up, boys, it's gonna be a long cold endless winter.

And all this time I thought they used horse meat.

Re: I love bleepin' burgers and fries

If you love burgers and fries, suggest you do not read "The Iron Time Bomb" by Bill Sardi or the Youtube on the worst food you can eat (Fries). In a nutshell, Italian scientists figured out why men die several years earlier on average than women. Reason - women through monthly blood loss can control hemocromatosis - aka iron poisoning from excessive iron build up in the blood from eating too much red meat. Google Bill Sardi and Testosterone for an article for another reason to either avoid red meat aka hamburgers or donate blood at the Red Cross - Erectile dysfunction from iron overload.

Five Guys has been a guilty pleasure of mine for many years.

Absolutely delicious meat and everything is cooked with peanut oil, so it's relatively healthy compared to other fast food joints that use seed oil.

Thanks for the info - have been looking for restaurants that use coconut, peanut, ghee or beef tallow for cooking to avoid the seed oils, especially soy oil.

The One Fried Food No One Over 40 Should Be Eating Anymore Because It Ruins Your Metabolism -

Maintaining a balanced diet should always be a top priority, but it’s especially important to consider if you’re trying to shed some pounds. Unfortunately, while not typically an easy feat, weight loss can become even more difficult for women as they age. There are a few reasons for this, but one is the fact that our metabolism naturally begins to slow over the years. Luckily, there are a few ways to boost your metabolism even over 40—and that includes cutting out certain foods that can throw a wrench in your weight loss goals. Unfortunately, this includes a few seriously tasty treats, including delicious but detrimental French fries.
Everyone knows it, but we all love to ignore it: fast food French fries are no good for you—especially if you want to lose weight. This fried, salty, deviously delicious side can lead to a number of health concerns from heart disease to diabetes to cancer. On a smaller scale, eating too many fries too frequently can also lead to a slower metabolism and unwanted weight gain. This is partly due to the fact that this food packs in a high fat and calorie contact while offering virtually no nutritional value . . .

Jumping out of line once in a while doesn't hurt at all, OP. You won't gain 50 pounds or "ruin your metabolism" if you occasionally indulge in "bad fast food." I'm doing that too once every blue Monday. I just give in to the graving of eating something really disgustingly bad. Making sure I'll overeat as much as possible, so I'm "cured" for a long time till the next "craving attack." Enjoy your burger 'n fries!
