Not really into gardening or landscaping, plus it's only a seasonal thing. There is something to be said for doin yard work though, which I do occasionally. I don't enjoy it enough to do it every day though. Hiking/biking trails are nice as there are several near me, but again it's mostly a seasonal thing, at least with biking, maybe not so much with hiking. Perhaps I should hike more.

One or two days a week I’ll go to the mall and do a round or two on the top and bottom floor which is maybe another few miles per week.

So maybe I’m walking 15-20 miles per week and lifting 2-3x. Throw in the normal day-to-day stuff like grocery shopping or cutting the lawn (push mower) and I’d say I get enough exercise. I’m at a healthy weight. I’m not a big fan of running or trying to lift super heavy anymore…I feel like over the long term 20+ years) it can beat up the joints.
That seems to be about an hour of walking per day. That is my goal along with lifting 2-3x per week and whatever cardio I can fit in. I did 9 months of Rippetoe's Starting Strength and had some results but was gaining too much weight. There was muscle but plenty of fat as well. Due to a medical thing, I'll need to stop lifting for awhile but think I will do higher reps and lower weight when I get back into it.

I don't think you need to do intense workouts. Just moderate activity. It's important to not sit too long, so try to take breaks from sitting at a desk. Get up and walk around once an hour. Go outside if you can. Maybe do some pushups or stretches in your office.
Bike riding is great exercise. I try to do some of that when the weather is warm enough, which is maybe only 4-5 months out of the year here. I think you're right that as moderate activity is good enough as far as health goes. I do need to do better with getting up from my desk every hour when working and walking around. Easier said than done though.

Winter is a good time to CLEAN bulk. go 200kcal above your Maintenace level for a week or 2 and go by mirror (or fat measurement tools if you have them). increase or decrease the intake if you need to. DONT become a fatty, your bloodpressure and organs will thank you for it.

Don't go full retard and do a dirty bulk that will set you back a few months if you want to cut naturally. If you don't track your intake your basically blindfolded shooting at a dartboard and hoping shit will pan out.

There are lots of free fitness apps where you can put in whatever you eat. online you can also calculate your maintenance level. try to get your heartrate up to max 140. no need to go to peak levels, you'll be burning proteins (muscles) instead of fat at peak levels.

Get a standing desk, seriously, get one. your hip flexors will be FUKD from sitting 8-9h a day, every day.
I have a pretty good idea what my numbers are. I think I've been doing more of a mixed bulk (clean and dirty). I ended up gaining a bit too much weight and going to have to cut down. I'm in the process of transitioning from approx 2500 calories per day to 2000, maintenance is in the middle of that.

I don't look like a fatty with a shirt on but do with a shirt off. I do want to keep the blood pressure under control as well.

I do have a standing desk type setup, but find that too much time standing can be detrimental as well. It's good to have a mix.

I cannot remember a time (it's been so long) where I haven't sat 9 hours plus per day. There's the 8-9 hours at work....and then there's the time at home in front of the computer or TV or whatever. It's not like I watch a lot of TV but I do spend more time on the computer than I should.

Re: How much physical activity do you do in a day?

I take fairly long walks or hikes most weekdays, generally around 1.5 miles, but sometimes up to 3. During the summer, there's also mowing a couple days per week (takes about 8 hours in total to cover the four areas I mow, using a 22" walk-behind mower, so each mowing session is about 2 hours of walking).

Re: How much physical activity do you do in a day?

I switched from "3 days a week" to "every other day" routine and it's working well for now.

Other than that, i need days where I don't leave the house because i always have something to do on my own (study, personal projects etc.)

I've been doing a job where I actually needed to leave the house and walk and do physical labour a lot and i had pretty low body fat percentage but now that I started working from home i gained like 3kg, it's bulking season baby.

Also, I agree with thinking about getting a good standing desk.
