Gen Z demanded $15/hour and the cost of everything has gone up a lot since it passed. What did they expect?! I haven't worked or lived much in the "real world" as far as paying for cost of living and even I knew that if they increased minimal wage, it would lead to hyper inflation. I told my dad, mom and my best friend back when the Illinois minimal wage was $8.25 that the jobs don't want me at that wage; why would they want me at $15. Trouble is today's youth was warned about inflation and Biden but as usual, they think they know everything and then things get bad and whine about it.
If they're so panic over a $3 hash-brown at McDonald's, then they should go to the grocery store like Wal-Mart or Target and get a 20-pack for the same price as a McDonald's and healthier and then make it themselves. Oh wait....... but there's no phone app for that; it requires work and a little bit of effort and creativity; something Gen Z is unfamiliar with. And these are the same dumb kids who go to college for gender studies or basket weaving and expecting a living wage job. Idiot kids!
It's a man's world and we need to take it by the throat and make it give us what we desire.
Something I have never understood about inflation is why?! Wages go up so the cost of everything else goes up, so wages go up again to combat it then everything else goes up etc etc I am no doubt very naive but this "constant economic growth" thing just seems stupid to me but I guess it wouldn't if I had mega millions and kept making mega millions.
I'm nearly half a century old though, I remember when 1 cent could buy you something! Australia got rid of 1 and 2 cent pieces a while back which tells you how bad things are here!
I ran into a petition gatherer in front of a Supermarket in California to put the $15 per hour law on the ballot a few years back. I told the guy, you do know that McDonalds and these other restaurants are just going to fire fast food workers and replace them with robots, right? He denied it - then I said - have you even visited the local MickeyDs - they've already installed self serve kiosks to replace the frontline workers - are you delusional? Go looki - you are destroying entry level fast food work by demanding $15 per hour! I noticed recently that "shrinkage" has hit the food size in California MickeyDs.
Oh well, I just go to the McDonalds in Tijuana where the minimum wage is around $5 per day and buy my (larger size) McBreakfastburritos and Quarterpounders there for a buck or two instead of the $7 they want for a mini McEgg Burrito in California.
I never thought my garden would be worth thousands of dollars, but thanks to national mismanagement and veering into socialism/communism it is.
I never thought my firewood would save me thousands of dollars, but thanks to national mismanagement and veering into socialism/communism it is.
My 25 year old truck saves me tens of thousands in replacement costs, and thanks to national mismanagement and veering into socialism/communism, that's the way it is.
Morrow of this story? Communism and socialism devalue the monetary system leaving the people no alternative but fend for themselves.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
P.S. I remember Mc Donald's advertising slogan was "change back from your dollar" where for less than a buck you got two burgers, fries, and a soft drink.

I remember McDonalds' Fish Friday a few years back when you could get a Fish Sandwich for 99 cents. Now it's around $6. For those who live near the Mexican border, just go across to shop there - minimum wage in Mexico is around $5 or 6 per day and the prices are much lower at the restaurants. Interesting that the politicians in the USA don't mind destroying jobs to jack the pay up to $15 per hour while Mexican politicians prefer everyone have a job, even if it doesn't pay much. When you raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour, everyone whose work isn't worth that loses their job or who can be replaced by AI or a robot will be. The earliest example of this was the Elevator Workers Union who operated elevators - when they kept going on strike to demand more pay, they were replaced with the automated self serve elevators used everywhere today.
