Any guys here fellow model builders?

I'm sure there are a few, personally I'm into aircraft in most scales, 1/35 armour and 1/350 warships. I've been building for just on 30 years and have a stash of around 400 kits unbuilt.

I have but not for a while. I like mostly 1/72 aircraft. Used to enjoy it as a kid and started again 20 years ago as an adult. I have a huge stash as well.

RC amphibious, multi engine, and sport. Started when I was 15. Adjusted for inflation, my 1st receiver/transmitter (Kraft) engine/aircraft (Fox/Cessna 182) was $600 then, almost $3,000 now! Allot of ching for a 15 yo with nothing more than a paper rout and working weekends at my dad's shop.

As far as model cars are concerned, I still have a couple (built) and two diecast in the original unopened box.

Just looking at catalogs, it would seem there used to be more models available way back when. They look to cost more today too, though inflation is probably most of what I'm looking at. That stash you guys have should serve you well.

I was a real kit builder as a kid, mostly planes and ships, but nothing lately.

What do you use for glue now? Stuff I used to use, they quit selling it cause people was huffing it.

If assembling 3D puzzles counts as a model builder, then yes I do. I built so many model puzzle buildings I made a city above my 4K TV in my man cave bedroom. It could be an Asperger thing, but I enjoy putting together puzzles.

Oh mate if you looked in a hobby shop today you'd be surprised just how much there is and now much more kits have advanced, just in the last 20 years let alone 40 or 50. I still use Revell Contacta plastic cement or good old cheap shop super glue. For clear parts I use white glue or specialist clear parts cement.

Good to see a few modellers here. I've been into it for 30 years now, sell a few too on the side to make some coin.

I was big into model railroading when I was a kid, though I was rather limited in what I could actually build due to a lack of funds. I've been thinking about getting back into the hobby lately. Now the problem isn't so much funds, but too many other, competing projects.

The local hobby shops small, they don't have space for a lot of models. Maybe I'm not seeing all that's out there. I just remember when I was a kid, you could get just about any plane or ship from WWII you wanted. That was a lot of planes and ships. About any car you wanted was there too.

Lots of online shops like spruebrothers, squadron or Hannents Hobbies and there are also a lot of scale modelling websites like Hyperscale, Large Scale Planes, Britmodeller and Aircraft Resource Center to name a few.
