    An update on Dorian

For all you hurricane watchers out there...https://www.newser.com/story/279886/...mpaign=rss_top

On a side note, a man on the radio said a storm bearing his mother's name is bearing down on the town where his father is getting re-married. Talk about a shit storm!

Over the years living across the south US, have been through many. Everything from running to high ground to ridding the storm out.

To all of you in The Sunshine State and surrounding areas I wish you luck from Ireland. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the forecasters seem to be predicting. Take care.

This is ONLY the first hurricane of the season. We go through this every year. It's been said that living on the Gulf Coast of the U.S. is like staring down the barrel of a shotgun. Of course, Dorian never made it to the Gulf.

Anyone see the photo of the wall taken from the eye? It's really impressive. Warning: It's a 600+ MB file, for those who are concerned about bandwidth.

It occurs to me how well the photo portrays the earliest stages of marriage. Bright sun, calm wind, everything good, happy happy happy.

    Right. Just wait a bit...

EDIT: Belay that warning. 600 KB. Carry on, gents.

I'm grateful it's only skirting the coast and not some left hook that pinwheels it into the prevailing winds, in that case the west wall would come onshore and wipe out anything standing or wash it away on the east wall where the winds stall and dump EVERYTHING!!! We got 9" inches of rain in VT from Irene in the mountains it's much more devastating from erosion, I saw canyons form where streams became raging rapids, large culverts clogged, with the raging white water rapids overtaking the road and scouring it down to bedrock for miles! We couldn't gain access to our property for a month before the Army Corps of Engineers and thousands of trucks with aggregate could fill in the canyons where roads once were! They had a marine advisory for debris throughout Long Island Sound from telephone poles, propane tanks, houses, and trees washed down the Hudson and Connecticut rivers!

Here's one of the photos I took where a stream turned into a river, we had to go about 10 miles extra on a detour make shift road built on god knows how many loads of aggregate, for the first time ever Vermont had an air pollution problem from thousands of diesel dump trucks running day and night through town! Everywhere we saw DUMP TRUCKS!

Big thanks to the Army Corps! God speed to the poor bastards in the Bahamas that got hit full brunt! I can't imagine how bad it is!

    P.S. Photo---
