I think it depends on the situation on how you should respond. Some things are worth getting angry about and some are not.

This might sound a little woo-woo but I have been into the thought process of constructing my own reality. When you create your own world, you can reject the outside world. It then doesn't matter what anyone else says and what "rules" they try to impose. I'm still working with this idea and haven't decided my thoughts on this.
