Woman accused of lying about rape claims psychiatric illness

A former university student accused of lying about being raped by two university football players is seeking to have the charges against her dismissed.

The Connecticut Post reports former Sacred Heart University student Nikki Yovino filed an application in court Friday saying she's suffering from a psychiatric disability.

The 19-year-old South Setauket, New York, native will undergo a psychological evaluation. A judge will decide whether she qualifies for a pretrial diversionary program. If she qualifies and completes that program she could have the charges dismissed.

Yovino accused two Sacred Heart football players of sexually assaulting her during an October party. The players said the sex was consensual. Police say Yovino later admitted making up the allegations . . . ."

Commenter: KISS band member ""He kept a huge photo binder of all the girls he humped cuz he's such a perv Lothario..!!"You really would think so, but the reason was actually LEGAL: His lawyers all swore a group who hated the band as Satan Worshippers would send a hot honey to him, they'd "do it" and then she'd scream rape. So the binder is FILLED with girls standing next to him, smiling with THEIR SHIRTS OFF...! How might a rape allegation seem after counter-evidence that..?

    Sure. Why not.

But let's see charges against a proven rapist dropped first, because he had a psychiatric disability. Let the outcome of that determine how tolerant we should be of false accusers.

The penalty for false rape accusation should be gang rape.

Well.. they do say that false accusers have a common trait. One that is often cited is borderline personality disorder. Still, what is scary about a false accusation, is that it is a choice any women is free to make after a sexual encounter; without repercussions if the accusation is later proven to be false. That amount of power over a man is seriously frightening!

You know, I sometimes think, what would be appropriate penalty for a false accusation of rape......
I would say 10 years of hard labour, minimum.

I object to your totally incorrect, and evil patriarchal, restriction on a woman's choice. She is free to falsely accuse any man of sexual assault, or rape, at anytime, even if she has never met the man. No sex or even physical contact is needed to make a case which the government will prosecute to the full extent of the law. He might have been a total stranger that was merely present at a crowded London train station at the same general time. The guy could even have been in another state while he supposedly assaulted a stripper at a lacrosse team stag party. He will still go through several years of holy hell on her bald-faced lie of an accusation.
