Question Who Do You Guys Idolize Real Or Fiction?

I think it's important to have icons to look up to even fictional heroes. Whom does MGTOW guys idolize whether if it's a real or fictitious person?

    I idolize the following people:
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan The Barbarian/Destroyer
Leonardo from the old 1987 Ninja Turtles animated show
Ryan Merriman from made-for-TV movies in the 1990s Disney actor
    Ted DiBiase Junior from WWE
    John Cena from WWE
    Mike "The Miz" from WWE
    Sheaumus from WWE
    Bryan Danielson from WWE
    Hulk Hogan from WWF
Mr. Wonderful from WWF - Rest In Peace
Donald Trump 45th and very likely next US president

    Who do you guys idolize?
It's a man's world and we need to take it by the throat and make it give us what we desire.

Dan Gurney, even though he's dead.

Maybe John Denison a little bit. He invented ice road trucking in Yellowknife years ago.

Gunther Rall, third highest scoring ace of WW II with I think 275 victories. There's a documentary on Gunther, he's a hoot.

Author Ted Conover lives it before he writes it. When New York wouldn't let him visit any jails, he went through the prison guard Acadamy and worked Sing Sing prison for a year before writing his book. He lived the life of an illegal immigrant before doing a book on them too. Even got busted at the border with his friends, though they let him go when they found he was a gringo.

Thoreau. He never married, he never had children, he lived in the woods by himself (although only for two years), and he refused to pay taxes to fund things he didn't believe in. That is pretty MGTOW.

A very random one is the character Mr. Rance from Road to Perdition, who in one scene says, "This is Mr. Rance in the bridal suite, and before you proffer your phony congratulations, there is no Mrs. Rance residing with me, and I'm all the better for it. Now, listen carefully because I am in no mood. I'm going to say this only once. I would like a boiled egg, and I want it runny."

One character I find especially interesting lately is Christopher Knight, otherwise known as the North Pond Hermit. He spent 27 years living by himself in a tent. Here's a quote:

"Solitude did increase my perception. But here’s the tricky thing—when I applied my increased perception to myself, I lost my identity. With no audience, no one to perform for, I was just there. There was no need to define myself; I became irrelevant. The moon was the minute hand, the seasons the hour hand. I didn’t even have a name. I never felt lonely. To put it romantically: I was completely free."

Re: Who Do You Guys Idolize Real Or Fiction?

Real people, regardless of their achievements tend to be flawed. I used to respect and idolize some people growing up but then I would see them as flawed individuals and now that I am pushing 50, I find the idea of idolizing someone to be kind of beyond my years.

I grew up with John Wayne films in particular and I like what his characters tended to embody, the strong stoic type. Always fair and cool headed, sometimes funny. Clint Eastwood's Western characters were more an anti hero, dare I say MGTOW type, I can't recall any of them being married or having kids. But they also were about being strong and not concerning oneself with the bullshit of others.

I tend to gravitate towards the type that does what they believe in and stands by it rather than playing the game.

    Diogenes the Greek philosopher strikes a cord with me though. I love this story about the time he met Alexander the Great;

Alexander asked Diogenes whether there was anything he could do for him. Diogenes, who was enjoying the warmth of the autumn sun, answered, “Stand aside to stop blocking the sun.” This abrupt response, showing his utter contempt for the power and prestige that Alexander craved, spawned the large number of artistic renderings that followed.
Although Alexander’s attendants took umbrage at Diogenes’ rudeness to their king, Alexander himself was not displeased. Leaving, he is said to have remarked, “If I were not Alexander, I would want to be Diogenes.”
To me it sums up someone who just doesn't want anything other than to be left alone. I like that cynicism.

To idolize always means to worship or to love and admire to excess. I've never worshipped anybody or loved and admired them to excess. I think when I was a boy I looked up to Superman, Captain Kirk and Spock, and the Green Hornet, all were fictional TV shows. Thought they were great. Along the way, there were lots of people IRL to admire aspects of, and to emulate aspects of. But, to idolize any of them? No.

Look at the bright side; none of us are idolizing females real or fictional.

And what does IRL stand for? I hate acronyms like a passion.

My bad. I learned the acronym online and thought I was the last to know! In Real Life.

I've seen idolization in the media such as a teen singing idol but it was always guys whom girls idolized, girls who loved and admired them to excess. So that fit. I guess I've never noticed guys doing the idolizing, but probably they do that to certain swimsuit models whom we get to know by name? I guess I don't think about it much. Do you think guys idolize certain female movie stars or other hot babes? Hey, I think back in the day, Raquel Welch was well known among the guys but, even then, guys did not adore women the way girls adore teen idols or the Beatles, where we get all slobbery and screamy.

Very good point!!! Why is that? Likely find those girls/women are dripping wet and would have sex with any of those famous male stars given a chance. Female nature says the female will look for the best seed. Those male stars would be at the top of their game. The girls see a slim lottery chance to get with the male star, they scream and wave to gather attention towards themselves to increase that chance to win a chance to be with him.

Why doesn't the boy/man act the same to a female star of the same caliber as the male star above? Boy's learn early rejection bites and bites often. It's better to keep your frame and hope for left overs than experience rejection, loose your frame with girls that you might of had a chance with... Most of the times, the lower 90% of the guys have to play the "Long Game" to have sex with a woman, that's not true when the sexes are reversed.

Men and women will both mob, but mostly for different reasons. Because we value different qualities.

I admire Putin because he know how to do a lot of things very well: hide a horse, pilot helicopter, speak many languages, dance, sing, spying, etc

He also never run from a difficult or even malicious question, this is a very rare trait in politics. His IQ should be 140 at very minimum.

In fiction I admire Omni Man (from Invincible) for being very masculine and also care for family and be able to change when/if need.

I was just a kid when he was making his last jumps. I watched some of his videos not too long ago and was kind of surprised at the rough landings and how he would often come off or even at times fail. Not making fun of him, I like seeing people "fail" or their "flaws". I was raised in a way where I was always expected to be perfect and if I didn't get something right the first time I should never attempt it again.

It took me a long time to learn that some people just do stuff and sometimes things aren't perfect and it doesn't matter.

I met the man (the legend) at riverside park motor speedway the day after his jump, he was pissed the night before just before his jump and almost canceled the jump because someone watered down the track to keep the dust down. He let us walk up the ramp and view the span before it was disassembled, looking at the span and thinking to myself "this guy's got balls bigger then water melons! My gab gifted uncle got us in to meet him.

Shit like that wouldn't happen today with all the lawyers and liability, no way would a daredevil let kids walk up his ramp! He was a kindred spirit without any traces of narcissism that often plague the rich and-or famous, he was like the guy next door, the one you like, the good neighbor, he spent 45 minutes with strangers that he didn't have to. I salute him to this day as the man with the biggest balls I ever met!

You should have seen Evil's Fans at the Snake River Canyon. They drove thousands of miles whacked out on who knows what to get there. Then sold mass quantities of their who knows what to who knows who to subsidize the trip. They took bigger risks than Evil, and for little reward. It was easy to see why they idolized the guy.

Everyone in my family rode/rides motorcycles. My uncle was in a 1960's local motorcycle gang, my grandmother road (drove) an Indian Chief. I started riding as a passenger with my father when I was knee high to a grasshopper! Had my first minibike at 11 and my first motorcycle not long after.

Motorcycles offer a freedom that's even better than flying a single engine aluminum can (wingsuit not withstanding). It's like comparing sandals to construction boots, there's nothing like the open air, it's why I like roadster convertibles with a flip down windshield and driving goggles! The open road is as cool as it gets when it's all around you.

I'm lucky I never took a spill but came real close a couple times, which brings me to skiing, it's the ultimate rush with the least likelihood of getting road rash, broken bones, and death, I know, I've gone down at highway speeds and got back up uninjured, not even a tear, sometimes still had all my equipment. Had it been tarmac instead of snow? I would have needed skin grafts over 60% of my body, every time I went down at speed! It's sort of like a motorcycle you can keep crashing all day and not get injured!

Re: Who Do You Guys Idolize Real Or Fiction?

    I’ve never idolised anybody.

When I was in my teens and all my friends were hooked into this actor or that singer or group, I’d be wondering what all the fuss was about. Yes I admired many of them, but I never wanted to be any of them.

Maybe this explains why I never had much direction in life. Maybe aspiration requires a certain amount of idolising that I never quite got.

I was happy just being me.
