    Where did everyone go?

I've been reading through some of the stickies and all-time threads. Some really great content. But one thing strikes me, there are/were many members who don't seem to post much any more.

I understand that over time people move on or whatever. Was 2014-2016 the golden age of MGTOW content? I think it was for me, I was on the MGTOW.com site and left around the time gargamel started fucking the place up.

Did a load of people leave en masse? Did they go elsewhere? Did something specific happen?

Just curious. It seems to be a handful of regular posters now and presumably a load of lurkers.

I was just contacted by Brain Pilot and was pleased to hear he's doing good, also seen a couple of other older names surface here and there on the web.

Mental illness is now the norm. Since I became fully red pilled I am not bothered by this, all efforts go into identifying, sometimes ridiculing, and distancing. There's no pining for something that's deranged.

In a way I find it comforting. Our theories are proved right daily and that brings a peverse sense of satisfaction!

I noticed a drop of daily logins about a month into Covid last year and it has not returned to pre-Covid levels. I do see old-timers log in now and then but they don't always post. Some members have indicated they view the site without logging in, and this precludes posting, so there must be others like that. Right now we have 504 guests (lurkers) which includes spiders and bots.

FWIW, we began moderating all registrant Intros in December 2019 due to a spike in trolling. In the years before that, anybody could register and start posting in any forum. And they did. Not that they posted the great things you saw (they often didn't, does anybody here remember logging in to PMs full of scat pictures?), but I gotta wonder to what extent the what's-gonna-happen-next "saloon atmosphere" did bring in others looking for good ol' fun while they posted.

We had an influx in 2018 of refugees from another site but it seemed, after they arrived and acknowledged each other here that they made the boat trip over, many quietly faded away. That's not a complaint. I see it as human nature to join something, get your membership card, and let that carry you.

I've read occasional mention that other MGTOW sites also have seen a decrease.

I am not above speculating to what extent my style here as Admin has negatively affected participation on this site. I have thought about this. While some have appreciated my moderation, others have blamed me specifically for their departure. Along with their unwanted behavior, any bright insights they may have had, departed with them. Perhaps any potential members feel that they can't be their full dynamic selves here. I don't wish to elevate myself about this, I may have nothing to do with the arc of what you see, as I think it preceded me. I'm just talkin'.

    Re: Where did everyone go?

I've often thought of this myself. I doubt it has anything to do with moderation (@ Unboxxed), I'd say most of those that left under this pretext was exactly that, a pretext.

I'd guess that many that stop posting do so because they've got rid of their angst and many of them log on to have a look to see if anything new is being said, others have simply gone their own way and moved on from thinking of others, this is the MGTOW way after all.

I would say to some of these members: don't worry about being repetitive. Yes, we may have heard it all before and in some cases even said it all before, but what of the lurkers? How many are going to scroll through the archives?

The message we send needs to be seen in the here and now, not some distant past. And, truthfully, I miss many of your insights myself.

Same here. I'm not surprised really given that MGTOW tend to be thoughtful people and Covid, and the reaction to it, has given ALL of us a lot to think about.

Red-pill, yes. But maybe some feel wymminz gotta take a back seat for a while. We have shed women from our personal lives so other, more important matters like how to pay the bills when you aren't allowed to work may be taking up their time.

    Understandable, yes?

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I like your style and how you run things here. I have no problem with the ground rules, I understand they're necessary to keep a tight ship. Also, one of the reasons we're all here is for other men. So it's not a big ask for us to respect one another, even if we're in complete disagreement about something.

I'd guess that many that stop posting do so because they've got rid of their angst and many of them log on to have a look to see if anything new is being said, others have simply gone their own way and moved on from thinking of others, this is the MGTOW way after all.
I guess this is true. There is more to say and learn when you first become red-pilled. But it would be harder to GMOW if there was no online presence, I think. There's always something to learn, and there's the entertainment factor.

Im still here, log in several times a week. I think MGTOW is still spreading, its amazing how often I hear the red pill covertly spoken in many areas in society. Joker and Greg Adams are growing subs substantially despite being demonetized

A good point, Jackoff. Posting something might help some poor soul who's exactly like I was in 2013. I appreciate the reminder!

I still see a familiar name or two from the days right after Nacho Vidal pulled the pin on the older board. That event did create tighter clusters around a particular campfire; not that that was a bad thing.

Speaking for myself, I was thinking about canceling my account here. So much so, I sent an admin an email asking if they could. I didn't feel like I had much more to contribute. Luckily my account is still here as I've had a change of heart. I still think I may have things to offer and I still feel the need to express my mind to like-minded people. Thank you admins for not cancelling my account. I think I still want to contribute.

Just curious, why not simply not login ? Why outright cancel the account ?

I don't know. I get a bit paranoid having "loose accounts" just floating around out there in the internet space.

I see, so the concern is to minimize the chances of someone else getting access to your account(s) after you have long forgotten about them, and doing something which can potentially cause trouble for you down the road. Interesting, makes sense though.

Well, in the days of cancel culture, where you can lose your job for the crime of having an opinion, you can't be too careful. I know that my opinions don't fit with the mainstream narrative.

I have had this thought: What am I doing? Am I helping, am I hindering, am I pissing against the wind? How is this benefitting me? Maybe I should just cease an desist!

But I ALWAYS come back to the fact that someone needs to speak the truth about feminine traits and if not me, then who? Who is going to let the young'uns know what's really going on?

And this place is one of the few places that I can still speak freely.
