I learned that way back as a kid, well before the internet existed. Have you ever seen the Mel Gibson film "What Women Want"? It is about a man who gains the power to read women's minds. He "hears" one woman think about how she would just like a man to approach her and be upfront about what he wants and how she would love that. So he does just that and gets slapped.

As a female friend of mine told me once, "We don't really know what we want".

The last person to listen to for advice about women is a woman. When you're younger, it seems like getting dating advice from women is a great idea. When you're older and look back at the advice you've received from women you realize you would have had better luck listening to your dog.
