Thread: What feminists don't understand about abortion and the right-wingers who oppose it

There are very few things with which I agree with the feminists, but abortion is one of them. I'm against making it illegal for many reasons I won't discuss in this post. I have a different point to make. Many right-wing religion nuts have been absolutely obnoxious about abortion. Not all, mind you. Some have presented their point of view in a respectful way, but many haven't. Some have yelled "baby murderer" at women entering a clinic, and the woman entering may not even have been there for an abortion. She may have been there to get a checkup or get her birth control refilled. But there's been a shit ton of hateful women bashing to the effect of "child killer", "lustful slut," etc. I'm not for that. If you have a point to make, you can do so without harassment.

But here's what feminists don't get. They're every bit as bad as the abusive right-wing, anti-abortion crowd. It's feminists who say hateful shit like “kill all men” and “mansplaining.” It's feminists who have dreamed up the absurd idea of making vasectomies mandatory for men, and a stupid attempt to say, “No you know how we feel.” However, I believe extremist feminists politicians would actually try to pass a law like that. They don't seem to understand the notion of “two wrongs don't make a right.” It's feminists who have opposed any attempt by MRAs to make the family court system more fair to men. Feminists have opposed setting up domestic violence shelters for men, and they even harassed an MRA who opened one until he committed suicide.

Feminists laugh at the notion of men's reproductive rights. If you mentioned that a man should have the right to know whether or not he's a father, they'll laugh at you. They would call mandatory paternity tests for all birth certificates “misogyny.” Meanwhile, a man's wife could screw around behind his back and get impregnated, and he would be legally responsible for that child that is not his after that massive betrayal. A young boy can get raped by his teacher and then get sued for child support by his rapist later when he's an adult.

The feminists don't give a fuck about any of these abuses of men's reproductive rights. So why should anyone care about theirs? Feminism has always been a man-hating movement. It got its start by shaming men to go off and fight in wars and get killed. Meanwhile they lobbied for the right to vote with no obligation to ever have to defend the country.

Feminists have vilified men for even approaching women. Women are in the position of huge advantage in the dating market of not having to approach anyone and not having to pay for any dates. Then when a man uses this totally unjust system that's rigged against him and works up the courage to talk to a woman, the feminists treat him like a predator.

Feminists have been massively hostile and hateful toward men, every bit as much so as some right-wing extremists have been toward them. Those two sides are so much alike it's laughable. They're both dogmatic in their beliefs. They both totally vilify anyone who disagrees with them as some kind of evil monster.

Even if I agree in principle with the feminists that abortion should not be banned, do you think I'm going to lift a finger to help them? I actually used to go to pro choice rallies. Not anymore. They're on their own. Feminists are like the playground bully who has made a career out of hassling and beating up other kids. Then one day, a bigger bully comes along and knocks her down, stealing her lunch money. Every kid there would probably agree that it was wrong to steal her lunch money, but do you think that any kid will stand up for her after how she treated them?

Feminists are hateful and arrogant, and treat their would-be allies like shit. While far-right religious extremists can be just as hateful and dogmatic as feminists, even they don't shit on their allies. A neo-Nazi might be a shitty person, but even he has the common sense not to shit on allies like the KKK.

In short, the feminists are just as hateful and evil as the extremist, far right. They're just stupider.

I liked the post Tig. Very informative. Ultimately though, I couldn't care less about feminists. I steer clear from their clown world. I give some advice to my son (23) as he's growing up in this sewer but he will have to navigate his way through it best he can.

My post is too short to quote OP in full. But while I disagree with OP in many key respects, his comments about male reproductive rights stood out to me.

A lot has been said (because it's women) about "woman's right to choose". And sometimes, I think we men don't understand how literally some of them mean that. We hear "a woman's right to CHOOSE".

But what I have become suspicious of is if they actually mean WOMAN'S right to choose. Or perhaps woman's RIGHT to choose.

In other words, men don't get a say. The woman can determine (at any time or for any reason) if "Daddy" is different from "biological father". Or when it's time to have a baby at all. Or anything that has anything to do with childrearing, honestly.

They may not say so out loud (yet), but I think some number of feminists (whether it's a minority, a plurality or even a majority) believe that reproduction is SOLELY a woman's decision and the man she chooses needs to provide sperm and some form of child support. He is not given a say, nor should he be.

I don't think this is hypocrisy on their part. Rather, it seems like hypergamy unfiltered. Obv, this ties in with the Dual Mating Strategy and so forth. But I wanted to shine a light on the possibility that women view reproduction as their SOLE prerogative and men need to stfu.

I am going to say that I agree with the OP. I know it's not popular here, but as much as I find the idea of abortion as a form of birth control to be abhorrent, I am not about to force my beliefs onto someone else. As much as many feminists refuse to acknowledge that an unborn child may actually be a living being...even when it's not convenient for her, they are easily matched by many on the political right who refuse to believe that rape, coercion, danger to the life of the mother and nonviable fetuses actually exist.

That said, I also find the idea of baby trapping to be abhorrent. For these reasons, a post I read a long, long time ago about a male, virtual abortion actually makes sense to me. Back then, it didn't make sense but now, either clown world has taken its toll or I've changed my stance. It really makes sense.
