Nowadays I consider having a high libido a curse. No, I'm not an incel, I'm 33, I have already been married, and had enough sex experience. Nowadays I'm uninterested in pursuing women, I've grown tired of their games. And I have been taking care of this through masturbation which I have no pride to say it's done in an excessive manner.
I have considered doing the more known chemical castration in the past, which is take a drug to greatly diminish testosterone (several options out there), but decided against it due to the severe side effects of having a low testosterone level.
But more recently I found about aromatase inhibitors. There is published research indicating they greatly diminish male libido.
They actually increase testosterone, although the increase is modest compared to the general drugs used for TRT. But it decreases estrogen conversion from testosterone, so it increases testosterone while decreasing estrogen.
I've done my research and there are possible side effects, but in general, it's a safe drug. And I'm not taking going to take the typical dose people use daily for on label usage.
Just this morning I had blood taken out to measure my Total Testosterone level, Estrogen (E2), and cholesterol panel (having it increased is a common side effect, but I have good levels). That will be my baseline.
I'm going to use 0.5mg Anastrozole once daily for 2 weeks and I'm still deciding the regimen I'll adopt later on, likely 0.5mg twice a week.
This is totally off-label use, typically this is used to treat breast cancer or to prevent it in high risk population. They take 1mg daily. Since it's also recommended for high risk populations, there are plenty of people taking this for years and years 1mg daily, so my dose is not unsafe at all.
In about a month or so I'll measure just Estrogen (E2) again, my goal is to have it as low as possible within the acceptable range.
And a few months down the road I'll repeat the same panel I did today.
It's likely I'll only do this for a year or so, and try to slowly stop using it. I think my mindset itself will change having diminished libido for a period of time.
I have done my research and read several papers, but I'm not posting proof of this here, do it on your own if you are curious or think this might interests you. And use sci-hub.se to read paywalled scientific papers.
I'll keep this thread updated as time goes on. And if doesn't work out as planned, that's fine, I'll just give up on the idea.
I’m aware that this is a pretty crazy idea, and I know most, if not all, members won’t be interested in doing it in themselves, but I think it might interest some few out there and the rest can enjoy it as a curiosity.
