    Theater passes, El Terminador

I recently signed up for all-the-movies-you-can-watch pass with a big movie theater chain. For a little over $20 a month, I can watch unlimited movies. There is 14-screen theater a nice walk from where I am staying. I was impressed by how the theaters are trying to improve the movie watching experience: comfortable reclining chairs, sound systems that emphasize quality and not volume, non-sticky floors. The last few years, I have noticed that, even for "blockbusters,' theaters tend to be pretty empty, like only seating 5-10% capacity, so you don't get the hoi poloi in the row in front of you narrating the action.

The factors that have kept me away from movie theaters is the high price and the lack of films that actually appeal to me. But now that I can watch whatever I want for the price of a couple of matinee tickets, and Hollywood is releasing stuff I would actually want to watch (like Joker), it made sense. Besides, it is perpetually hot where I am at, and going to the theater allows me to turn off the aircon in my apartment for an evening.

So, despite the reviews, I went to see the new Terminator movie. Or, as I like to call it, "Anti-Trump, Totally Woke, Mexican Terminator," or "El Terminador."

Technically, there is nothing wrong with the movie. The effects are great. They correctly convey how much we live in a digital panopticon, the high tech surveillance state. The cargo plane sequence was very realistic to me, and I have spent a lot of time in C-5 Galaxy planes. Ditto for the auto plant (Dad was a UAW member), the Border Patrol center, the air base.

The intent seemed to be to re-boot the franchise, pretend that the third, fourth, and fifth movies never occurred, and pick up where T2 left off. That is an honorable goal, but the writers seemed to be content with giving us about 30 minutes of story and then rehashing the best fight scenes from the first two movies.

There was no new concept, just a rehash of the premise of bad terminator, good future soldier, time travel, and future evil AI.

I've noticed that over the years, the sine quo non of the franchise - the survival of John Connor as the future leader of a victorious human rebellion - has gotten treated worse and worse. In T3, he is drug addict. In T4, he is not the leader of the Resistance, but just a tactical commander. In T5, he is a villain, a human infected by the AI.

In this movie, he is killed in the first 8 minutes of the movie, when he is still an Ed Furlong-looking teenager in the late 1990s, by an orginal model terminator unit played by a digitally de-aged Schwarzenegger.

Can't have a CIS white male save humanity, can we?

There are four protagonists in this sequel. None of them male.

    - Sara Conner is now a hard drinking, 60+ year old alcoholic terminator hunter who is so leathery, her face looks like a saddle bag with eyes. Imagine if Hillary Clinton had spent the last 25 years running a Waffle House instead of keeping herself alive by bathing in the blood of third world virgins.

    - The soldier from the future is an enhanced cyborg warrior played by someone who I cannot ascertain whether he/she/shim is either a tall teenage boy, or a M-F tranny, or a F-M tranny.

    - Arnold plays the terminator unit that killed John Connor in the late 1990s: since he had accomplished his mission, and there was no Skynet to send him follow-on orders*, so he married a single mom(!), started a drapery business, and has lived a suburban simp husband lifestyle in a Texas. How is he not Hank Hill from "King of the Hill?"

    - The person needing protection from the terminator is not the mother of the future leader of the resistance, but the resistance leader herself. And she is Mexican...who will need to overcome the border wall...with the help of her coyote/people smuggler uncle....to sneak into the U.S.. (I did NOT make this up. How many stereotypes can we squash into one character?)

The evil terminator is also Latino (hence, el Terminador!) but played by an actor that doesn't look masculine enough to spend a day pushing a lawn mower. How do you say "soy boy" in Spanish? "?Muchacho delicado que toma demasaido leche de soya?"

The evil terminator spends most of the film dressed as, and impersonating, a Border Patrol Agent, with the exception of the final fight scene where he dressed in the fight suit of the USAF pilot he impersonated to get control of a refueling plane.

This is not a coincidence. Right now, the left, and by extension Hollywood, views Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and border patrolmen as evil. In T2, the terminator was skinned as an LAPD police officer, which was - in the Rodney King riot era of the early 1990s - were also demonized. The hate for the LAPD did not subside until that police department came under control of a federal court, it was forced to make 80% of their recruits diversity hires, and one of the most professional and effective police departments in the country was emasculated.

*Surely, when Skynet was sending various terminator units back to various points in the past, they surely anticipated one of their units succeeding in either killing Sarah Conner before she could give birth, killing John Connor after his birth, and killing Sarah Connor until she hit menopause and was incapable of giving birth to any other progeny. Why didn't they send their terminator units with orders to, if they succeeded, surrender to the U.S. authorities - or better yet, a defense contractor - so they can get a hold of their future tech that was necessary to build Skynet in the first place?

What they keep teasing, and they never deliver on, is a movie devoted to the Future War.

It could start shortly before Judgment Day, show Judgment Day and the immediate chaos, the world falling apart, Skynet (or now, it is a different AI called Legion) attacking humanity, and the growth of the resistance.

Hollywood is making movies that lose money, and I for one will not pay to see political propaganda thrown at my face, especially this kind of propaganda.

It makes you wonder what is their business model. Is it selling movies or selling propaganda?

If it is selling movies, then they suck and will soon be out of business. If it it selling propaganda then business is booming.

We all should pay attention to the Google business model. You don't pay for the services because you are the product. That is something everybody says, but people don't think this trough. What they sell is the ability to influence you!

So, why are people surprised that search algorithms are skewed? They MUST BE SKEWED to manipulate your brain.

So, going to the movies or using Google products is volunteering yourself for brainwashing.

    Sounds vile.

That being said you mention some plus points as well. Do you regret having watched it? (bearing in mind you can see beyond the obvious indoctrination)

I dont watch action movies where the main character is a woman nor there are more than a woman in leading roles, thats not because Im sexist or I wanna obey the "mgtow rules" but for the same reason for which I dont watch fairy tales while looking for an action movie.

A short skinny woman cant even open a bottle let alone fight non stop 5 roided up men and win with no scars, its not about sexism but what makes sense.

Drama movies or romantic comedies have women is more than believable roles, if I liked the kind I would watch them but I dont.

Also zero tolerance for leftist poltics and propaganda, damn even propaganda that agrees with my views its a pain in the ass to see while I just wanna have a good time at the cinema.

What? Mr. Buh-buh-buh-bad-To-The-Bone? Say it isn't so!

Was that supposed to be Hollywood's wishful thinking on what they call toxic masculinity?

    Great review, sam.

Yeah, I don't like these PC messages from Hollywood, a town that vies for the most mentally unhealthy environment ever. I'll skip this movie.

    Re: Theater passes, El Terminador

It's one thing where the protagonist of a blockbuster film is a woman and a decent one at that, I'll be able to let it slide like with the original Terminator, Alien and even Halloween movies. Though when it goes to this route where the same actresses play out the same role 20 to 30 years later, it becomes extremely hard to believe and it becomes bullshit that is shoehorned into the movie for the sake of projecting an agenda which has become all too common with movies nowadays. If Carrie Fisher were still alive, Disney would find a way to have Rey share the spotlight with Princess Leia or have Leia overshadow Rey completely. You see how Han Solo was just offed in Episode VII like he didn't even matter. That would be why I'm extremely reluctant to watch the latest Terminator movie because it's just a couple of old people, overstaying their time in the spotlight, like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair still trying to put themselves in the wrestling limelight.

I dunno what is sadder, cinema making this the norm or me getting used to it...

Don't pay to see it ( I didn't), but as a way to pass the time and re-live the thrills from the FIRST two movies, it was better than a root canal.

Let's just say it was better than the last three terminator movies, and only 1/4 as good a "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

It looks like it is bombing at the box office, and when I went to see it, there were not enough viewers in the audience to fill two mini-vans.

Terminador (masculine), Terminadora (feminine) The Antagonist "presented" male. It would have been more fun if they made the antagonist a terminator that took the form of Kathy Bates.

I'm wondering how the theaters make any money with these passes. Are they hoping I will pay $8-12 for 25 cents worth of popcorn and oil? $4 for some carbonated sugar water?

I think the movie industry made a big mistake in franchising the box office hits, then milking them along for decades until it's convoluted and lost it's fizz, especially when it's feminist and political indoctrination to an ideology or agenda, it's made the entire industry warped on repetition, repeats, and outright molestation! Any club that clings to its own ideology in lockstep with itself looses all creativity stuck in the same old ruts and going over the same old ground in endless circles.

It's long past time for some new thinking and new people in the crusty infected Hollyweird crowd! Their bullshit has become predictable long before you see it!

It's not movies anymore, it's an exorcise in spotting and identifying lefty propaganda and building immunity to the man slander and socialism over capitalism and industrial might.

They want us all living and behaving like animals!

That is probably how they get their money today. Theater owners should band together and sue Hollywood movie makers.

At this point, I dont think they care about money. From "they", I refer to people pulling the strings behind this clown world. They get their money from taxation and all that fuckery they run via institutions like banks, and laws like alimony (man pays the woman, the woman spends it on bs). The hollywood is just used as one more propaganda channel. Any money they can make is just a bonus. And if they really need money, they occasionally throw the bone to the dogs, movies like Joker.

It's good to see that steaming piles of dog shit still hold their value! What pisses me off is when they line up for government bailouts! Some things are better off DEAD! But we'll never know as long as big daddy .gov keeps giving handouts! It's like cultivating economic cancer instead of letting natural law's immune system stamp it out!

People and systems that believe .gov will take care of them, stop taking care of themselves.

I didn't pay to see it. But it was only bearable because it was better than the last three movies in the franchise.....and only because it cannibalized the first two movies.

And the franchise is dying because Hollywood does not know how to invest in new ideas. Latching on political flavor-of-the-week indoctrination is not going to help it.

Sure McKenzie is a lesbian pin-up, but those women were the core fan base of the franchise, and they are not a big enough demographic to make the movie successful.

I hope the movie fails. Did you hear? Joker is almost a one Billion, and that is even without the Chinese market.
