Whenever I read about all these officials, ministers, activists, spokespeople and other experts bemoaning the situation, I have to roll my eyes. There's never a shortage of people willing to complain about it and demand action...but those same people always have a reason why they can't enlist, go through military training and then be one of the ones who actually does something. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Probably the reason the Taliban have reinstituted the burqa is that it muffles the sounds that Nagathas make! The unstoppable whining and complaining about I need a new SUV or whatever turns into muffled sounds like "Derka Derka . . " under the Burqa as it covers her mouth! Makes Taliban mens lives more endurable since they can't get drunk as Muslims and forget about their nagging wives in a drunken haze! LOL

In good order to muzzle and silence them, their burqas would have to be made of Kevlar with sound deadener and covered with concrete! Even then nothing can stop the ground vibration!

Actually, I remember quite a few of the Left leaning types railing against the Iraq war, but cheering the Afghan invasion. A lot of them were saying things like "now Afghan girls will be free to go to school!"

It's also just a terrible place logistically for military operations. Too many remote areas, insane terrain, little to no infrastructure. We can criticize invading Iraq too, but at least they have actual cities, roads, etc. There was at least a chance Iraq would become somewhat of a modern country. They don't call Afghanistan the "graveyard of empires" for nothing.

The US was waging a counter-terrorism operation and the small troop footprint was to train and enable the Northern Alliance to fight for control of the country.

How small was the US footprint: smaller than some US cities' police departments.

Why is it that Islamic women in Western countries, especially Western women who’ve supposedly converted to Islam, insist on wearing Burqas where they’re not only optional but discouraged.
Yet Islamic women living in Islamic countries hate wearing the fucken things where they were virtually obsolete up till 40 or 50 ago.
