    Soda pop is a life saboteur

    I'm finally OFF stinkin' soda pop, and it's helped me to feel better. I'm a coffee hater, and so if I was feeling sleepy during the day, I would get caffeine from soda pop such as Pepsi, RC, or Dr. Pepper. It became totally addictive, and it put pounds on me. For the past couple weeks, I've been drinking black ice tea and bubbly mineral water. I feel much better. I've still got a ways to go to improving my health, but throwing soda pop out is a big step. I got so I didn't feel right until I had had my jolt of cola. If I need more caffeine, I'll make some hot black tea with no sugar, but I'm not needing that as much anymore either.

    I'm convinced that soda pop crap is designed to addict you and keep you coming back for more. That crap pumps way more sugar into your system than it can handle. I used to think I was doing better if I stuck to the Mexican import, Jarritos, because it doesn't have caffeine. Not true. That shit is just as full of sugar.

    This isn't the whole goal, of course. I still need to get a good exercise program going and throw some other junk out of my life, but it's a start. I threw alcohol's ass out of my life 11 years ago and have never regretted it. Soda pop may not have been as destructive as that was, but it's still bad enough. Fuck soda pop. It was invented to make some people rich. It never had any intention of creating health, and doesn't care if it destroys it.

    General health info: the human body is not equiped to handle sugar. It maintains an equilibrium of blood glucose using two hormones, insulin and glucagon. They are only messengers to cell: if there is to much glucose the insulin signals the cells to consume it, lowering the glucose level. If there is a low glicemia, then glucagon signal cell to produce glucose from body fat.

    When you ingest sugar there is a quick rise in blood glucose, the body produces enough insulin to consume normal carbs, that take 3 hours to be absorbed. But sugars are quickly absorbed carbs (15 mins), so you get a quick rise followed by a quick fall (resulting from to much insulin). Now you have an hypoglycaemia, that causes two things: glucagon being produced to compensate and HUNGER.

    That is why fast food chains love sodas, because the sugar makes people eat more than they would otherwise.

    And if you thing these hormonal imbalances cause by sugar have consequences you are right: type 2 diabetes later in life.

    Don't toss out soda completely from your life; just drink the zero sugar/zero calorie kinds like I do. I stopped drinking sugar drinks months ago and now drink sodas without sugar and calories. Weight is slowly going down. In my opinion, soda tastes better and healthier without sugar and calories than with it. I can hardly taste the difference.

    So don't get rid of soda; just drink the kind without sugar and without calories.
    It's a man's world and we need to take it by the throat and make it give us what we desire.

    Same here, stopped consuming high fructose carbonated corn syrup about 15 years ago, never was a constant drinker, when I do drink soda (rarely if ever) it's sugar and sugar substitute free with natural flavoring like what you're talking about.

    I can guzzle the stuff especially after skiing! Try that with CocaCola and your sinuses will be bleeding!

    I refuse to buy Coke, because of their woke political beliefs against white men. I rather drink Pepsi, since I don't yet know of their politics. I hate companies that have woke politics.

    Anyway, it's true, sugar is no good. You can enjoy soda without the sugar and calories. As far as I can tell, it tastes about the same, or better.

    Not sugar. Soda pop. It's loaded with so much sugar that you'll get overloaded with sugar if you only drink one of them. But you're right, things with some sugar like apples, oranges, watermelon, etc. are perfectly fine.

    You're not within 10,000 miles of a sugar maple tree, if you were you'd know there's no added sugars, preservatives, or foreign matter in 100% Vermont maple syrup, maybe a smidgeon of wood ash from the smoke that comes from loading wood fired boiling tables in the sugar houses that dot the state.

    I've seen farms there, in the middle of nowhere, far from any powerlines on a narrow dirt road that runs for 10 or 15 miles!

    For those of you that don't know Vermont, the state is caught in a time riff! Some places it's still 1885 where you see dirt roads and wooden bridges! Other places it's 1927 when you look at the electric distribution infrastructure, and yet other places it's 1492, because nothing's been touched since then!

    All's I'm saying is beware what you think is healthy, especially when it comes to the likes of soda, or lemonade, cherryade, whateveraid type shit.

    If it says zero sugar that's a fair enough sign there's a load of chemical shit in there to increase the sweetness.

    Same for all these health bars. Read the label and see if you understand what they're describing. If not, look it up. You got a whole world wide web of info out there.

    Maybe it just hasn't caught up with you guys in Europe yet. Like I said, it's the only soda you can guzzle an entire can! 100% natural, it's all the rage on this side of the big channel! They're in Worcester Massachusetts, they're the little guys that got fucked by CocaCola's gauntlet of lawyers that stole their copy rights to their polar bear label and got away with it!

    Fuck Coke with a cactus! I have every reason to despise them!

    I'll throw my vote in for diet soda as others have mentioned. I'm not going to claim its a safer alternative or anything given the aspartame, but its a risk I'll take to have soda without the high sugar and fructose corn syrup, etc.

    If you don't want to support Coke I've heard good things about SodaStream, and apparently there are ways to refill the CO2 cheaply.

    don't drink the Coke zero or Coke light soda's. They have substituted the sugar with aspartame ( Thanks Donald Rumsfeld) which is an artificial sweetener which does a lot more damage to your body then only sugar does. When they found out and the first scandals arose. They just changed the name of the artificial sweetener aspartame into something else can't remember the name right now. Sugar makes our body increasingly loaded with acids, which is pretty bad.
    Stay away from the coke zero and light it is worse then the normal coke. Best is to not drink any soda.
    Do some research on aspartame gents.
    Just my 2 cents.

    I've always really hated the artificial sweeteners like nutrasweet or whatever. I hear they're not good for you anyway. So I needed drinks that weren't sugar loaded,but also didn't have fake sweeteners. Plain black tea and sparkling mineral water have been doing the job for me. They've got no calories, but no phony sweeteners.
