It seems to me that nowadays men spend much less in designer clothes and status cars

Recently read some stats about purchases in the european union and expensive cars are not pulling as they were before, it could be because of the current state of economy but 2008 was much worse yet no such collapse happened, also I see shops selling clothes with less and less men attending plus they are limiting the selling of men clothes as if its no longer convenient.

It seems to me that slowly but surely men are understanding that its either not worth or simply not working, we are reaching a point where men are folding either cause the juice isnt worth the squeenze or because they understand those are just a plus that wont do jack and sh1t if you lack the base (what is considered to be the basic now).

Cant really tell if they are moving toward a mgtow life style without even knowing or they simply stopped trying since they realize its not working and its definitely not a matter of effort.

Guys from the Us, what do you observe around you?

Attention is not a good thing this day and age, at least if you are a man. Look at what all the attention-seeking whimyn on social media are willingly doing to themselves. Their damaging behavior will scar them for life.

I think that more men are realizing that invisibility is their best strategy. It is foolish to advertise that you have money and assets when the lying word of one sloot can get you arrested and incriminated for life--even if you are cleared of all charges! The smart men are going into invisibility mode: camouflage of the wisest.

I personally strive to be as nondescript as possible. The fewer whimyn that notice me, the better.

The "men's" section has shrunk to microscopic in most department stores and most department stores are CLOSED due to the internet. Our standard of living as dropped as men become 2nd class citizens forced to pay 1st class citizen wages, housing, expenses, retirement, medical, and welfare, all the things we're expected to do without. We're long overdue for a major correction and it's not the kind that lifts 2nd class citizens but rather lowers 1st class citizens to 2nd class status.

I actually value retail. Too bad it doesn't exist much anymore. I'd much rather go try something on or see it in person before buying it. Unfortunately, retailers have not reacted well, if at all, to Amazon. I've gone in to retailers to purchase something only to have them tell me it is a special order. It usually costs 50% more than it would from Amazon and will take two weeks or longer to arrive. Walmart of all places is about the only company to have reacted at all to the Amazon threat.

I've never been "stylish", but I do like to wear things that fit. The last thing I want to be doing is sending shit back to Amazon. Too bad retailers all suck now because working with Amazon is exactly what I'm doing.

Not to mention as more and more men go MGTOW, the less they give a shit about whether what they wear impresses. Personally, since I went MGTOW in '03 I've been buying my clothes at goodwill, walmart, or costco. Good enough to wear to work and nothing more - not necessary. I wish I had my money back for all I spent in department stores when I was younger....

Re: It seems to me that nowadays men spend much less in designer clothes and status cars

When the late 1960's came around, and most working men had secure jobs, the powers that be had to get them to stop saving money like their Depression era fathers. It was bad for consumerism. After all, the world was saturated with American products and the industrial base of the european countries and Japan were starting to recover.

So, if men could not be convinced to spend like women, start getting women into the workforce. Men were responsible for supporting families, so men were earners and savers, while working women would be spenders. They would buy dryers rather than hang clothing on clothes lines, they would buy pre-packaged meals and cook them in microwaves rather than cook from scratch, and they would need a second car to get to that job....only to lose half that salary to the taxman.

It would lower the wages of men, while creating more taxable income for the gov't (because the tax rates were NOT adjusted for the inflation that followed), and, in order for men to be more attractive to these (somewhat) financially independent women, they had to start spending money to become consumerist peacocks. They had "style" their hair at a salon (not just cut it at a barber,) buy blow dryers, and start becoming fashion plates.

A date is a woman you occasionally financially support in the hope she will have sex with you.

A wife is a woman you constantly financially support even when she is not having sex with you.

An ex-wife is a woman you constantly financially support with alimony so she can have sex......with someone else.

"Workin' Gear" here in Oz. Sturdy jumpers (sweaters), sturdy shoes, sturdy socks. Oh, I have to suit up for work, but the rest of the time I'm wearing something cheap.

When you don't care about trying to impress women, you can save a lot of money on clothing. I wear practical clothing that is hard wearing, weatherproof and subtle. The clothing lasts for ages and I don't care about anything else. It's a clean look, just not flashy. It's the same with everything else, from the car you own, to how you train. Life becomes a whole lot simpler when you live without trying to impress others!

I wear synthetic shirts that wear like iron, come out of the drying in the morning with nary a wrinkle, and don't lose their size or shape.
Add some khaki pants (wrinkle free dress pants) and I'm out the door.

I'm lucky we don't need to wear monkey suits in my line of work... casual office attire is so very much easier.

Be careful using the word "monkey", 70's sports announcer Howard Cosell was fired for innocently using that word!

Re: It seems to me that nowadays men spend much less in designer clothes and status cars

When I look around me, almost everyone I see looks poor. Something like half of all US households are dependent on government assistance (AKA welfare) and struggling to survive. Over half of Americans are less than $500 away from bankruptcy, and privately held debt is the highest it's ever been. Simply put, they have nothing.

I probably fit right in. I do technically make six figures, more than 95% of Americans. I also still have close to $80k worth of student loan debt, which is a higher than average debt load. I live well below my means, and about 70-75% of my income I either save or put towards my loan.

Most of the clothes I wear every day (other than my work clothes) are more than five years old. I still drive the same car I drove when I was in pharmacy school; it's more than 7 years old now. I could of course buy newer clothes and I could easily finance an expensive sports car (or just pay cash for one) but that would be retarded, considering the direction of the economy and my already high amount of debt.

I think the reason more men aren't buying expensive clothes and sports cars is because they are broke. The ones who technically could afford to (like me) probably still don't want to spend the cash; they are probably doing the same thing I am, trying to improve their finances and get their shit together before the next recession, which should be any day now.

The only guys who are buying that crap are either so loaded that they just don't care about the money, or they are so stupid that they don't care about taking on a massive amount of debt in the worst economy the world has ever seen. And really, why bother doing any of that when all it is useful for is to impress women? Even if you have the money, western women have never been so unattractive and worthless in human history. There are far better uses for your time and money.

I just purchased plain grey sweat pants made with 5% recycled bottles (trash) and they already have grease, cement, glue, and paint on them! Why spend more when in all reality I'm just a walking rag?

Yea, but if the recession is big enough, maybe they'll devalue money or/and freeze accounts, Greek style. The markets will go puff, just like most funds that are invested in them.
In the end maybe its guys that have nothing except huge debts that get away with it. Nothing to be seized and the debt evaporating with inflation.

I am in a the same boat as you, with money saved and some debt.

But there is no way of knowing how it will get. It wold not be the first time that the responsible people get screwed, while the wiseguys get away clean.

Don't get me wrong, I have 3 pc Guchi suits, Alfonzo shoes, paper thin watch and bling, fuck that! I'm happiest welding something, digging something and all around being industrious and what I wear for that is comfort and flexibility to move about, machinery gets greasy if you're actually lubricating it, and contact is unavoidable and it's a great place to wipe your hands! I don't give a fuck about first appearances anymore, but I can say one thing, the gucchiwear makes their hearts flutter because they see money and success or a trophy to parade around with bragging rights! Like a fucking light switch! They turn on and off depending on what you're wearing! What you're driving, where you live, do you own it, and is any of your bling a wedding band? Like a hawk alerted to some fucking prey! I like my grey sweats, they're real ghostly when it comes to color and gold digger radar!

All this can be explained quite simply.

Having a car, a mansion is no guarantee that an even below average woman will open her legs.
    So why bother?

Pre-Social media and apps like tinder; all you had to do was dress nicely, work an average job and look half decent and you could enjoy not only one night stand but threesomes and orgies occasionally.

Now only the top 5% of well off people enjoy these things.

Plus a shitty economy; there you have your reasons.

Sorry for the drunken tirade earlier (I seriously gotta stop those weekend binges) BUT I can definitely relate to the highlighted part teehee! There is nothing like being an inconspicuous rogue, stalking the streets like a stealthy shadow that hardly anybody will recognise.

That's a real spy persona, not James fucking Bond.

Yea, James fucking Bond gets all the girls, but what they don't show us is the broken windshields, dents, and scratched paint on his cars from jealous gfs taking revenge on him, nor do they show the endless hours and dollars he spends in court answering false trumped up charges and child support from sperm jackers and whores that choose the best candidate to become baby daddy!

Good luck with that, James, you're gonna need it! You can have all my potential pussy and the aggravation and stress that accompanies it! We need more Bond types to mop up all the spare pussy that only wonders in our way, like a herd of sheep on the interstate in the FAST LANE!

Re: It seems to me that nowadays men spend much less in designer clothes and status cars

I wear simple clothes to look as cheap as possible. I've never been fond of expensive clothes, but I did enjoy wearing something smart every now and then, like for New Year's Eve, or a wedding (before I became a fully aware mgtow). For work I had to dress at least representable, but since I can't work anymore, I mostly wear tracksuit pants (bottoms?) or sweatpants, complimented by an old sweater or a 15-20yo old hockey jersey. In the winter I favor my 20yo leather jacket that looks like crap, but it still keeps me warm, so why throw it away?
