    Multitasking – a female trait?

It is a common belief, even amongst MGTOW that multitasking is a female trait, but is this true?

I think this is a misconception and here’s why.

Generally speaking when men approach a task they give it their full attention; there’s a job to be done and this is the time to do it, everything else is temporarily set aside until it is completed. In other words we have a natural tendency to prioritise, to give things their proper due.

But we are just as capable of multitasking as women.

Consider the average guy on a night out on the town with his mates. He sits at the bar or at a table chatting about the topics of the day while having a few beers or whatever and during this he is watching the game on the telly and is totally aware of his surroundings. If a fight is breaking out he’ll usually notice fairly quickly, similarly if a hottie suddenly appears he will notice this also.

If he is interested in said hottie he can simultaneously keep an eye on the game, carry on with the conversation, and formulate a plan to make a move on the girlie, all while skulling his drink and keeping track of whose round it is. Multitasking at its finest.

So, if this is true – and it is – why are women credited with being better at multitasking than men?

The answer I feel is the hamster. The female mind jumps and flits constantly, unable to concentrate on any given subject for any amount of time and this gives the appearance of multitasking but what is really going on is an absolute mess of confusion while they try to figure out how to turn things to their advantage.

How many times have you tried to debate an issue of some importance with a woman and they just seem to be totally incapable of staying on point? This is no illusion; it is the hamster at work.

But, say women, how do you explain being able to do things such as talk on the phone with a cacophony of distractions going on around them?

Again this is due to the hamster. The phone conversation is important to the hamster because if they’re not careful they could miss something they can use or say something that can be used against them – this is the hamster’s priority. So, they are totally capable of prioritising shit when they think there may be something to be lost or gained and everything else is unimportant and so can be ignored.

Multitasking is a female trait? I think not, it’s just that hamster running amok as usual.

There might be one more reason, I am not expert on this topic, just heard/read it here and there. And that is autism. I have heard autism is not only more common among males but severity is also higher. And an autistic person is incapable to multitasking. So maybe there is a weak association there.

Re: Multitasking – a female trait?

Women are good at multi tasking because the ability to multi task, is a by product of the ability to manipulate and outsmart your environment. Women are always juggling several different options, be it relationships, friendships, work etc. This is because they are better at ''strategising'' where as men are more forthright and want to just do a good day's work.

Therefore men tend to be more one dimensional; which in the current modern world we live in, is becoming more a detriment than anything.
A mother cannot raise a boy to be a man, not because he needs a father figure; but because she favours team vagina over her own son.

Tradcon women are the most manipulative of all kinds of women, because they infect you with false hope.
Radfems are your best friend, because they hate you and verbalise it - that's honesty!

The red pill rage is a process which takes many many years - so be kind and patient with yourself.

Maybe, but after all this strategising they often pick the wrong one.

e.g. Credit cards maxed out, little food in the cupboard, behind in the rent / mortgage and what does she do about it? "I'll make myself feel better by buying that new pair of shoes I've been looking at."

Re: Multitasking – a female trait?

I expect that as with most things when it comes to those who are the very best at it we would see those positions occupied almost exclusively by men.

And lets be clear what we mean when we refer to multitasking.

Some of the most important tasks we see as singular actually involve a significant if a vast amount of multitasking to achieve and the greater the importance the more focused a person needs to be on the multitude of tasks required for it to be a success.

So what is really being said when people claim women are better at multitasking is in reality "women are only capable of multitasking simple and relatively unimportant tasks". For example housekeeping is a single task but it involves shopping, cleaning, ironing, dropping and picking up kids etc etc that in reality are very simple but we are supposed to consider it a highly skilled multitasking bonanza just because women mostly do it.

    The sexism of low expectations.
"Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything — you can’t conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him."

    -Robert A. Heinlein.

Multitasking is a sure way for anyone to get acquainted with their automobile airbag!

In that regard, you can bet most deployed airbags are smudged and smeared with lipstick!

I believe that multitasking would be associated more with the feminine while focusing would be associated more with the masculine.

The ability to drown out all the noise and focus on what actually matters gets jobs done. That's what men do.

This is just my two cents though.

I believe you are correct in your assessment, we're like radios with tuners, while they transmit and receive on all wavelengths at the same time, like 5-G burning out its own transmitter!

This thread reminds me of a concert I went to once in Tacoma. The artist was Martin Taylor. He's Scottish and learned to play when he was like 4...and it shows. This guy is in a class by himself...even better than Leo Kotke! Any way, he started picking this tune and doing a monologue...at the same time. He starts showing the audience how this tune is played. First, he says, you do this. Then he plays only that one part. Then, he says, add this, and plays the other piece of this fingerpick he's doing. Then he shows the audience how to pick the third piece to this pick. And when you put them all together it sounds like this. Then, he resumes playing the tune. He says that he was watching Oprah one day while practicing this song in his living room. The topic? "Why can't men do more than one thing at a time?"

    The audience roared!
"Don't follow in my footsteps. I stepped in something."

Re: Multitasking – a female trait?

I once watched a documentary that had a test for men and women. It was to perform series of tasks, like making photocopies, ironing a shirt, making tea... A typical gender neutral test to really access what is going on.

Women were faster. Men were consistently slower because they would concentrate and follow the task at hand, while women would jump between them.
It's an advantage women have in the kitchen, we're the worst that happens is that you boil out the water or burn the stew because you are not paying attention to it while doing several other brainless things.

Now go fly a plane with the same strategy...

I hate to interrupt what I am doing, so I am personally lousy at multitasking.

But my experience is that are two ways to do things:
    1) don't think about it, don't worry and don't pay attention : it makes a job A LOT EASIER, but prone to fail.
    2) use situational awareness: understand the situation (think), do something to change it (act), and verify if you got the expected result (feedback). It is hard, but things get done in the safest way.

Look at women doing things and assign a number...
