    A New MGTOW Island

Many leagues West of our sea-washed shore
A new Island, born from the infernal deeps,
Has arisen amid the oceanic expanse.
And there men, filled with proud disdain
    And audacious courage, have landed
Upon its barren strand and sulfuric rocks.
For they have elected hard autonomy above
Easy governance with all its storied pomp.
Nor does their Isle present an aspect benign,
But rocky and desolate is the surface,
And scorched with heavy and vaporous air.
And yet, such is the ingenuity of man,
    That a Paradise may be built upon this waste;
And so, I wish them well in their enterprise.

    Re: A New MGTOW Island

Since somebody suggested that I was mocking the new site as a barren waste, let me invite him to perform a simple experiment: Go to the front page there and look at that painting “Wanderer above the Mist”. Now imagine the same figure depicted in some flowery and well-manicured garden. Would it still convey a sense of nobility and proud isolation? Obviously not.

The same applies to this simple poem. Unless the background is portrayed as stern and desolate, there is no way to represent courage, fortitude, or any other manly virtue. Had I tried to describe the Island as some kind of florid garden, it would have evoked nothing but the most anemic and insipid sentiments.

Mystic isn't being rude or anything of the sort. His last sentence shows that.

I selected the painting for the new site and I take no offense whatsoever, I don't believe there was any mocking at all. BTW I love your style of poetry!

The poetry is nice, and that you took the time to write is a complement all of it's own! The island won't be barren for long, the rhizomes from my bamboo colonies are already invading.

Well, it was an excellent choice. I would be very hard-pressed to find a more appropriate image. Also, thank you for the reps and kind words.

Great poem - almost all great poets were men.
The picture should reflect what a man really is and my opinion only - it has done that. Kudos.

    Re: A New MGTOW Island

Not at all mystic. I've tried my hand at poetry (I think everyone who would like to consider himself a true Renaissance man MUST do so regardless of the result) and I can do OK but the amount of time/effort and energy is enormous and only one such poem I ever did turned out OK so my hat is off to you brother.

If only you guys had been on the Zoom session the night we were debating what picture to use---I I never thought my entry was going to make it...I was a little surprised when it did and then of course there was the requirement to EXPLAIN it. HA HA good thing I was already familiar with the works of Friedrich. Here are a couple of others I thought about suggesting:

    https://artsandculture.google.com/as...MiJhn5kA?hl=en

    And

    https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morze_...Kunsthalle.jpg

And this last one which is really a MGTOW scene:

Caspar David Friedrich Kalender: Caspar David Friedrich Kalender am 4. September: Junggesellenabschied vor Rügen

My apologies for not being able to post the picture but rather only the link---am having a lot of trouble posting pictures.

Well I would call Bolton Evil but Evil would probably sue for defamation.

Prepare for a false flag in Syria -soon probably another chemical hoax followed by WW3 kicking off -they are itching for WW3 you can not argue away the fact that Trump appointed Bolton he is following the plan of PNAC like they all do

COM'ON man! ---It'salbs we're talking about poetry--and you're stepping on our buzz with your WWIII global mass destruction stuff. We get it: WW3 bad; but poetry GOOD.

I went back and read your interpretation of the painting. And I must say that it was very well done—especially since it’s so difficult to portray an image with words. Most of the time, visual art lies beyond the limits of language. But in this case, you managed to enrich the experience of the painting.
