Thread: Men spin the Earth.

Hey, guys!

Saw this vodka commercial. Thought I just had to share it.
We've seen commercials, displaying men as retards, we've seen commercials showing men as drooling fools. Here's a one that's different.
Please note: this is not any kind of promotion, and I'm not affiliated with the manufacturer.

It's in the Ukrainian language, but the video speaks for itself (if anyone is interested I'll make a transcript in English, the script is pretty good too).
The words you hear in the beginning: "Men spin the Earth". And that is true.

P.S. Ironic how it is, domestic war makes feminists vanish in a puff of smoke, but we do need to find a better way to get rid of them.

"Men make the world turn" (or "men make the world go 'round") would probably be the most impactful phrase in English, although I of course have no idea how close that is to a literal translation.

No worries, Uroach - "Men spin the Earth," "Men turn the world," both work perfectly. "Men make the world go 'round" is probably better, since it echoes an old English saying, "Love makes the world go 'round."

Translation is not an exact science, or an exact algorithm - as you probably know from using Google Translate. There's a joke (and probably it's fiction) about IBM inventing the first "translation computer" in the 1960s ... they tested it with the phrase, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." The translation? "The liquor is still good, but the meat is spoiled."

yeah, about the only industries that remain to portray men in any sort of positive light is the sports industry, and the alcohol industry. To any other market, were fools.

Ok, maybe the automotive industry too...

if only we could do things like this...... not just women or men, but everyone.... black, white, gay, straight.... everyone..

And the Vodka in the ad is inexpensive and very very good .
