    Integrity

In my opinion, this is the "Real Man".

Can you do a deal on a handshake with him? Does he honor his word? Has he decorum? Does he stand up for the right thing without regard for the opinions of others?

Many weakling men of today fail here. How do we get this value back in our culture?

    Re: Integrity

It has to start in the family unit. Children have to be taught AT A YOUNG AGE. After about 5 or 6 yrs old the learning capacity starts to slowly reduce.

The same values have to be taught in school as well.

With single parent families, kids are given anything to shut them up and then placef in front of the tv.

Add the progressive programming in public schools.....

I grew up on John Wayne movies & the "Cowboy Way" those days are long gone. Men can no longer be men. Honor, truth, your word being your bond, will die with us.
For that, I am glad to be as old as I am.

Let me tell you, if I fell short of any of those things when I was a kid I would get a good beating. Not kidding.

    Re: Integrity

A bit of advice on this topic from around 160A.D.

“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.”Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Buck, Bob, and Travis sure nailed it to. Not a lot we as men can do today to restart the things Buck talks about. All three posts listed some missing key ingredients in today's world.

However you and I can be all those things Chauvinist talks about right now.
You are already going your own way. Make all of that an integral part of your way. Lead by example.

Be the kind of man people like to deal with and be around. Be a man of value. Many people will take notice. Maybe that will start a change? Maybe not.

However when it's your time to leave this world it might be nice if folks said "Yep, he was one hell of a man, we are going to miss him".

According to old Marcus there you should start this program when you wake up tomorrow.

What an amazing thread. It's an excellent reminder. I should try harder to check my negativity and grow above the bullshit. I should strive to keep being that honorable, upright, stout, hard man that stands by his word and does right even if it's very difficult. Bitch less and grow more.

OG the more posts I read of yours the more highly I think of you. You are a wise man, sir. I raise my glass to you.

I really think this thread should be a sticky. It helped me see past the RPR I tend to let creep into my mind. I Just want to thank the OP and everyone else for this one because all day yesterday and today I've been meditating on it. I need to stand upright, stop complaining about everything that has happened, and begin pushing forward.

Okay, thread drift here. But well earned one. Tip o the hat to Maxleson. I love to witness some personal growth. Inbound rep on your last post.

Don't know if you are familiar with the chart below. Sorry about the giant image. Could not get it to downsize. I think you just crossed into the baby blue band there and are headed for the dusty rose section there. Nice!

I too went through a disastrous divorce. Took a while to rise from the ashes. But rise I did. Speaking of sticky threads: Read some solid gold here Mr. Maxalson, if you haven't already.

    Let 'er drift, gentlemen.

I immediately eliminate anyone be it man or woman w/o integrity out of my life. Life is just too short to deal with other people's crap.

CPig, Uly, MarketWatcher and I were discussing values important for anyone earlier today, especially individuals attempting to break away from the herd mentality. I had mentioned two of the traits espoused by the U.S. Army; Integrity and Respect, and how important they are to ensuring that a man has the foundation to be an active and productive member in society.
