Thread: I ordered a high-end electric guitar yesterday

This would not have happened without MGTOW! I won't identify the make and model just to make certain there's no way I can be doxxed, but it's a guitar that has gotten such great reviews that you have to order it and wait months for it. There are plenty of great guitars out there, of course, but I've wanted this one ever since I first heard of it. I'm good with waiting for it. I've got other guitars to play in the meantime, and then I'll get this finely crafted instrument some months from now. They would have let me wait until it ships before I pay for it, but I chose to pay now. I like that better than suddenly getting hit with a big charge months from now. I'm not getting ripped off by paying and waiting because I will definitely receive this guitar.

Now compare that to if I hadn't gone MGTOW. If I had still been dating, this pile of money would have gone to paying for expensive dinners just for the slim chance that she MIGHT want to be with me long-term or just fuck me temporarily. However, the likely result is just paying a bunch of money to spend time with some trashy single mom, and doing it over and over until it adds up to a hefty sum. At about $200 a pop, it only takes 5 dates to have thrown $1,000 down a black hole. Ten dates is $2,000 flushed away forever with NOTHING of value in return, and with every one of those dates not investing jack shit. Or you could pay much, much more. And probably every single one of these women will claim to be for "gender equality," but their idea of equality is asinine. It's like, "I want equality ... now you pay the tab." Granted, there are a few women who don't do it that way, but almost all of them strongly believe in 21st century values for women and 1950s values for men.

So I paid a pile of money for a guitar that I won't see for about 4 months. I'm going to have to wait before I can even play it or use it for any gigs. But I will definitely get it, and when I do, it's the kind of guitar I've wanted all my life. What a great deal! This deal kicks the ass out of dating. It blows my mind that some men keep dating when it's such a rotten deal with the odds stacked against you. What if you could make a dating deal that you would have to pay some relatively large amount of money, let's say 5 grand, and then you would have to wait 4 months, but at the end of that 4 months, you would definitely get the girl of your dreams, someone who is attractive, and is kind and compassionate to you, and totally loyal. She'll stick with you for a lifetime if that's what you want. Man, tons of dudes would pay that! It would be a massively better deal than today's dating, and certainly today's marriage.

So I went MGTOW and thus opted out of dating, and the money piled up. I've now invested it in something I really wanted for a long time. I'm not upset that I have to wait months for this guitar. I will definitely get the guitar. If for some reason it became impossible to produce it, I would get my money back, but that's extremely unlikely. I paid a big pile of money, and I will definitely get something of extreme value about 4 months from now. Compare that to if the company used dating standards. What if I paid that big amount of money and waited for months and then they were like, "Sorry, but we're just not feeling it. There's no chemistry. We know you've invested a lot, but we feel better tingles from this other guitar player, one who hasn't invested jack, but he just plays sexier. So the guitar is going to him."

That would be such an unethical, shitty deal that they would be laughed at and run out of business. Pay for something, and then actually get something of high value in return. Even if you have to wait. I love how much better guitar builders treat me than women.

It's good you are investing in something you want and value. Much better than a basket of make up and another pair of shoes she will never wear twice. There is always that expensive meal at the high end restaurant that wasn't cooked "Just right" that she only picked at....

Man, I got sick and tired of women who totally take advantage of our out-of-date customs. It's money down a black hole. I heard a radio show one time where a dude was on a date with a single mother, and she ordered take-out on his dime for her three kids at home. The radio show called her up and tried to get her to pay him back, not for her meal, but for the take-out for her kids. She acted all defensive and refused, even though she had totally taken advantage of him. He had asked HER out, not her and her kids. The radio station ended up reimbursing him for the takeout when she refused to pay.

If I ask someone out, or suggest to go out, I pay or expect to pay.... Male or female... Doesn't matter...

More than once a Mate has suggested I find a woman so I can join his group of friends going out to the pub and to dinner.... Almost every time I have been able to say, "Dinner is on the Weber, did you want to have some before you go?" I cook up roasts and "Beer can chooks" and freeze for lunches when I am working. He insists eating out is better than what I am roasting up... I know his nose is telling a different story. His GF will not come around when I have the Weber on, she is very skinny, it is likely very painful for her. Why does a man have to spend heaps of money when he can show his skills for a fraction of the cost? Fucken' trollops, can't even make a sandwich...

I'm gonna get two of my guitars fixed and take lessons at Guitar Center. One of them was damaged by a bitch I had at my place, when I was looking to get laid. Never again. I don't like women playing with my stuff. Those guitars are fucking off limits.

Congrats. I've also upgraded my guitars, but nothing too crazy. My frugality keeps me in check, but I don't begrudge anyone buying anything they want.

Some people have no respect for a fine musical instrument. I can't stand that. The only people I ever let touch my guitars are other guitar players whom I trust.

I also really don't like it when a guitarist smashes a guitar onstage. I understand that that was part of making performances outrageous and shocking back in the 60s, but those days have come and gone. I would rather that a musician just give the best performance that they can.

Same. I'm looking to get one of my goals as a singer or solo artist, to completion. I've always wanted to be in a band or a solo artist and make music. It seems like musicians can make millions of dollars for their work.

Is this true?? I've noticed musicians buys mansions, after generating massive income like millions of dollars. Even billions. I want to do the same thing. It's one of my goals to get FUCK-YOU money, and also spend on myself at some point (not whole of spending, though).

It's partially true. It's true that some musical artists make it big and earn a shit ton of money. However, many, many more do not. I've seen outstanding artists who were just local artists who could perform at a local pub and have their band paid 100 bucks that they SPLIT amongst the band. So if the band has 4 members, your take-home pay is 25 bucks. If you're just doing it for the love of it, that's okay.

That said, becoming a big-name act is not impossible. If that's your goal, I would recommend learning everything possible about the music business, because it is a business, and it's about who plays the game the best and finds the best connections. It's not about who is the best musician, though it is necessary to have good abilities and to write good songs. But just being good at making music will never be enough. You must also know the business well, and have some luck.

There are also other music-related careers where it's possible to earn good money, such as being a recording engineer. It's complicated and there are no guarantees.

Not connections alone, no. You do need to have some good musical abilities and especially good songwriting abilities. Then those connections and an understanding of the business will work for you. Even with all that, there are no guarantees. But it is possible.

I hope it's a Gibson SG, they have what I call "Catalina power steering". Going back and forth from an old classical guitar with strings so far above the frets you have to stop base jumpers from jumping off them, then pick up your Gibson SG and it's like a weightlifter in outer space! The fingers move faster than your ability to see them and the guitar with it's dual pickups whistles intonation notes like scorn feminist!

When I think "High End Guitar" I do tend to think of Gibson, for me it's all about Les Paul's but all Gibson's are great. I like Fender too but they don't seem to capture my imagination in the same way.

When I started playing guitar in my teens we had acoustic classical style guitars at school and I just figured guitar was really hard because of how they handled. Even when I got my first electric I found it difficult to play. It wasn't till I started playing again as an adult and got my first proper electric guitars (Gibsons and later a Fender Strat) that I started to realize why I used to have so much trouble.

Dude, were you able to figure how to play that guitar? I was able to learn to play my guitar, but I stopped learning how to play after few weeks.

Shit, I need to get back re-learning my guitar! It was fun! Most definitely enjoyable.

I've been teaching myself the past few years and I am happy with my progress. I will never be amazing (or will I?) but that is fine. It is fun and a great way of reducing stress.

I am better now as an adult than when I was a kid.
