I don't do New Years parties! It attracts too many cops! Fuck that shit! I'll be sleeping, dreaming about something better than drinking! New years day I won't be sick and puking, I'll be working on one of my projects, more than likely the one that does wheelies!

I will be doing a mixture of Jackal's and mgtower's posts. I'm going to spend the night playing video games while snacking on chips and a homemade platter with dip.

Some people have made fun of me cause I am not into the club scene. I reply "I'm going to wake up on New Year's day feeling good, fat wallet, and ready to take on the world. While you will wake up sick, broke, and depressed. That's a great way to start the new year, huh?". I usually get called an asshole and then I thank them.

Every cop in the State will be on duty, sounds like a good time to stay home.

    Re: New years eve

New Year, Christmas, or more Indian festivals like Holi, Diwali, and even days like my birthday.... all the same for me. I wake up, breakfast, check up on things like email and this site, do some work, watch some youtube or play some games on PC, do some more work, go out for some brisk walking, come back and eat something and rest, then back to work, then more youtube/games, then more work, then sleep. I like the consistency and really hate if something (or someone) interrupts my routine.

I'll likely spend it with my blue pill friends as usual. Any poorly concealed arguments between couples when the women start thinking about the future and more commitment/money/marriage/babies are a nice bonus.

Dear season doesn't have to end, just give yourself a private extension! Deer wandering into this verboden place could die from lead poisoning along with the goats. I bet that would make one hell of a sausage! Vennigoat sausage with habanero'n'cheese!

I'll do my normal stuff and have dinner at my parent's place, then go back home, sit at my computer, stand on my balcony at midnight to watch the fireworks, call my parents to wish them a happy new year and drink until my bottle of rum is empty, then wake up a few hours later and take it really easy.

AAARRR! When I drank, it was rum and or tequila, private stocks. One time, I paid $160 a qt. at the port of entry! Can't even buy it in the U.S.! That and cubano cigars!
Spiced rum is no different than cheap constituted whine, where ethanol and grape juice are blended to give it that whine'o gutter rot flavor. Yea, I drank that stuff too, when I was a teenager looking for a cheap buzz, that love affair didn't last too long, and gave me some insight on rot-gut-booze, to this day I can't tolerate the smell of Southern Comfort! That's a different story that involved a 5th, loosing my bicycle, and waking up in a parked VW bug that was covered in frost, and I shivering! I was 15, and the closest I came to alcohol poisoning and hypothermia same time, same place. A few months later I spotted my bicycle and asked the dude where he got it, he said the park, and then it hit me where I left it and why, I was too drunk to ride it, and kept falling over it when I was walking it. I ditched the bike, and the dude and I agreed it was finders keepers, otherwise it would have been a fight, to which I was on the loosing end, he had friends that also agreed.

When I was a drinker, New Year's Eve was one night I always stayed sober, jokingly calling it Amateur Night.

But, yeah, the heightened enforcement was a consideration.

When they first started cracking down, the drunks said "I don't care, they cant tell me what to do." Then they found out, usually the hard way, that a drunk driving ticket cost as much as a weeks vacation to just about anywhere. This didn't stop drunk driving, but it sure slowed it down.

There was once a preacher who didn't like his job, and became a small town cop. He busted a friend of mine. The guy had it coming, he'd been drinking all day. Anyway, while their putting the cuffs on, my friend looks up at the sky and hollers, "mom, look what the guy that buried you is doing to me." Naturally the cuffs were put on real tight after that.

    Re: New years eve

New Year’s Eve itself, like all the other holidays doesn’t mean much to me. I’ll probably be expected to join the ‘festivities’ with a few friends but it will be kept short, maybe an hour or two in the evening, just enough to save face. As I’ve gotten older I find I just don’t enjoy the party atmosphere the way I once did.

I do however like to reflect on the previous 12 months at this time of year and consider the year to come.

Last year for the first time I actually made a list of things I wanted to accomplish during the coming year, not exactly resolutions but something similar. I never looked at the list again until now thinking it would be fun to look back at them and see that I hadn’t implemented any of them. To my surprise I did actually implement about half of them, made progress on another couple, and the ones I made no progress on I never really expected to. It would seem just the act of typing them out made it more likely that I would address them, go figure! Maybe I’ll do the same this year.

I would, however like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and even our lurkers a very happy 2020.

    Re: New years eve

I used to hang out with the same people every new years, but we eventually had trouble even staying up till midnight. We'd go, well it's new years in Ontario, (different time zone) and call it good. Pretty lame, but that's what happens when you get old.

    Re: New years eve

I'm driving my camper van out into the countryside where there's a mountain running race being held on new year's day. I'll be wrapped up warm, with an ample supply of beer and food.

After the race New Year's Day I'll be parking up at the next major village and will spend the night testing out all the local pubs, before Indian restaurant and a good book, massive curry.

All solo with no dumb bitch to muck it up with her moaning.

CultVoid, sounds nice. Especially "no bitch to muck it up." I have been sucked into travel in SE Asia with my cousin (cool guy) and his new short haired, vegetarian parasite wife. As if that wasn't enough, she invited another recently married Millinial along- with AOC calibre horse teeth. As millinials, new years eve is still super fucking important to them. It will be interesting what antics (no doubt involving fancy dress) they come up with the night of the 31st.

Word from the wise, make sure your keys are not in the ignition during alcohol consumption, driving or not, that alone is enough to be charged and arrested for DUI. Doesn't even matter if you're in the drivers seat or if you lock and chain your vehicle to a tree, it's still DUI in the eyes of the law.
