Thread: Do any of you still do the online dating thing?

I used to do so in the past, every so often. It was mostly a waste of time but I had some fun conversations from time to time.

Thought I'd sign up again and they all require a cell phone number in order to sign up. I don't trust these companies with my cell phone number or credit card.

Do any of you still use these dating sites for anything or have you all ditched them completely?

Used to. Not swipe apps mind you, but websites where you put profiles and such.

I had success with it. But don't do it any more. Went monk.

It seems that the swipe apps ruined the dating sites.

Not that they were great to begin with, but it was easy to create a profile and actually get some responses.

Nope. I avoid interactions with women at all costs. Don't need no drama.

I don't look like Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, or any other 'hot' model type from Hollywood, so therefore women won't notice me/respond to any message I try and initiate with them (well actually, fat women and breeders tend to sometimes respond).

Therefore, it's a colossal waste of my time that could be utilized furthering other avenues of my life. I tend to play the local provincial lottery and no word of a lie, I feel like my odds of winning the jackpot are better than trying to win a response from some average & delusional bimbo on any dating site you wanna throw at me.

If you’re a hot guy, swipe apps are great. If you’re a chick, swipe apps are great for validation and food dates with idiots.

Dating sites remind me of used car shopping I dread used car shopping. I never wanna wast time dating again woman can have all the fake bullshit they have created to them selfs I ain't biting...

Let go of it all completely. Then enjoy the peace that comes from realizing the entire dating thing was a 20th century blue pill invention, to convince men they could find their soulmate through proper choice and selection. It's all BS. Sure maybe you could eventually find someone who would marry you and cooperate in reproduction. But that's all the dating process is good for.

I'm from the pre-internet generation, the baby boomers, but it was the SOS even before the internet. I remember paper advertisements listing what women believed were their traits and features. The problem is people can't judge their own qualities. It's just lies. Everybody is trying to sell a fantasy self-image to the highest bidder. What they really are can only be revealed through long term personal contact. And you can't get that from an internet posting.

Experiment if you must, but keep your expectations low.

I used dating sites back in the mid-2000s and women seemed a little more honest on them and I had a couple of long term relationships with women I met. Fast forward to dating sites after my last divorce a few years ago and they are way worse. I used to think dating sites were kind of a fun distraction-like a video game where I could get laid. Now, the amount of work you have to put in just to get a first date is way too much investment. You just know you are one guy on a roster of guys she's meeting up with. Plus, the judgement that I was subjecting myself to was sort of eroding my self esteem. When you're texting with someone and they just ghost you or you go out on what seemed like a promising first date and get blown off, it's tough not to take it personally. I've been off them for years and am way happier for it. Throw in there that I finally realized that all women are looking for is to get into a man's wallet and everything else is a means to that end, I'm out for good. I wouldn't keep a leopard in my house and a woman is significantly more dangerous.

No sane man uses dating apps EVER.

The amount of work you have to do to just get a single reply is too much investment, I have read about some people are selling automated bot programs that bulk message hundreds of women to get around this. Says is all !!!!!

Sometimes I do have a look to see what I'm missing, some of the same women still active that I seen 5 years ago.

One thing I found during previous stints on these sites are I would come across similar profiles, over and over again.

I am over 40 and get the impression that these sites don't want me on there. I signed up on match and my account is blocked, despite not doing anything to warrant the block. There would be little or no response on free sites like OK Cupid. As recently as a few years ago, I'd get plenty of responses. It's almost like these sites don't want to match anyone.

But yeah, maybe it's time to just completely let it go.

Something changed over the last few years. I know the Match Group pretty much owns every dating site now.

I have been off for a year or so, but thought i would give it another shot. I don't want to give these sites my cell phone # or credit card, so there are hoops to even get on the site, and then little or no response once I get on the site so why bother. I try not to be too negative as far as women go, thinking that perhaps I could meet someone who is fun to be with (even as a friend). Between working a job with an odd schedule for many years and Covid, my social life outside of family is pretty much non-existent at this point.

The last time I went on a date was a year ago. When I signed back up on Match (before I was banned for no reason), the first profile to pop up as a match was the woman that I went on that date with....despite me having a brand new profile.

I don't plan on ever going there and hold no jealousy towards those that have found success on such platforms. I can meet women organically, but now, knowing full well the costs involved, I choose not to. I met my X wife 3 blocks from where I live, an event that nearly cost me my life and sanity 12 years later.

You will not find what you're looking for in women, food, alcohol, drugs, mega wealth or any other such desires. You do not own your possessions. Rather they own you. Desire is the root of all suffer-ring.

Sooner or later, that gorgeous woman you met online will one day become your worst nightmare. Women have a period of time in life in which they maximize their gains through exploiting men with their looks. That's the only reason they're on dating apps - to find men with whom to use and exploit. You can pretend that I'm wrong, that you're a superior male and that's why women flock to you on dating apps, but you'd be lying to yourself. Women don't love men. Women love what men can do for women.

To women, you are all disposable utilities. To women, you are nothing but a potential human sacrifice.

Until they completely destroy your life, ignorance and self-delusion are sheer bliss.

Reality is too much for most people to handle.

Is that the reality for everyone or are you mainly referring to men who have their shit together?

There are a few men who I'm related to whose wives earned most of the money during their marriage and the wives stuck with the husband. For example, I have an uncle who has been on meds for decades due to mental health issues. He had a hard time holding down a job and his wife pretty much held everything together. He even cheated on her at one point. Their kids are a train wreck (irresponsible like the uncle) but that is another story. They are still married though.

There are guys who were wild in their younger days who settle down and are grateful for their wives.

It's almost like irresponsible men gain something in a relationship but responsible men do not.

I have a hard time believing that every woman is bad.

I'm not looking to get married but wouldn't mind having a female friend that I enjoy interacting with to hang out with occasionally. It doesn't have to involve sex or money. She could have her own residence and I could have mine. It is difficult to find male friends as one gets older.

Women like irresponsible and unreliable jerks. Its a fact. They say they want a good man but thats only because its cliché. The more you treat her like dirt, the more she loves you. But the better you treat her, the more she despises you. It's a fact of life.

Did these women hope to end up as a nurse with a purse, or do they deeply regret what they ended up with and wish things turned out differently. Women divorce ailing men all the time. Haven't you read the news; "Women not marrying! Men too broke!"
