Ha, my 1984 Camaro gets more notice than I do. I bought it new. Nowadays, I'm in the parking lot at the grocery store or parking on the street or at the gas station and some older lady (I'm in my 60s, mind you) will tell me what a cool car I have. All I can do is laugh and tell them that my car gets more notice now than it did when it was new, which is true, saying it's a babe magnet anymore but where was that when I needed it? LOL.

And don't anyone suggest I hit on these crones! LOL

Women/girls are very good at being chameleons, they will mold themselves into who the man they are trying to get is attracted to.

Men display clues on how they spend money, the watch or the shoes you wear or the phone you carry, etc. Most young women study fashion as a hobby so easy for them to tell. Men also display clues on their occupation. Someone working construction, as a mechanic or any physically demanding job is less likely to wear rings or an expensive watch, this will likely apply at leisure or shopping. Male grooming says a lot about the person also. Do you get your hair cut twice a year and shave/trim once a week? Good grooming can over come a bald head in male attractiveness. Displaying some of the 6 sixes goes a long way also. It's the little things that they will notice.

Come to think of it, I hadn't shaved in a couple days. Of course some girls like stubble.

I would not say that I was dressed fashionably - shorts, tee, flip flops. Nor was I wearing any jewelry.

With that being said, I noticed while browsing her website that she is involved with Amway. That could explain her striking up a conversation in the shampoo section. Perhaps she is not looking for someone to date, but people to buy her products or services.

Personally I agree with the sentiments in this thread, either they're priming you for a better tip, she's interested in getting another orbiter, or she genuinely has the hots for you.

It seems likely the answer for this situation. In case you haven't been through a typical MLM pitch, these people are hungry and aggressive. It's not just a matter of you buying their product, they want you to become part of their "downline" selling Amway stuff with them getting a percentage. So, they look at it as establishing a long-term relationship.

However, I find there's something of a paradox in the MGTOW lifestyle. Since we haven't ruined ourselves by getting married and having kids, we can attract a lot of attention. I get approached on a regular basis. Sometimes they are just looking for a single serving of attention. Others appear to be fishing for something more. I'm not interested so I just end any conversation quickly and move on.

My dad's old friend was into that. It got to the point where he only reached out if he wanted him to get involved in his latest pyramid scheme. After my dad turned him down the last time, he never heard from him after that.

I followed up with this girl but she didn't mention it. When I first saw her card, it was entrepreneur and I thought "that's great" and then I saw the Amway thing. I might join her gym but if she pressures me with the Amway stuff then I'll find another gym.

Where do you get approached? It rarely happens with me (with the exception of what I posted in the OP). I'll go to a sporting event or concert with thousands of people and just blend in and nobody approaches.

I have sort of a gift/curse that men and women will approach and tell me their life stories without any provocation. Most of the time I don't kid myself that they want anything more than some attention. In the 21st century era of fake online social life and isolation there are many people looking for scraps of interaction with live humans. Sometimes it's obvious they are fishing for something more. For instance, they start asking questions about my situation and activities. Usually for me it doesn't happen at events with large numbers of people. It's been on hiking trails, at stores, just walking around neighborhoods, museums, and so on.

I'm in my 40's too and got approached by a 20 year old a few months ago. She thought I was about 25. I look after myself and do regular training. I noticed the same girl starring at me some time before this though. In general I notice a lot of women giving choosing signals, or giving long eye contact that would usually be considered creepy or uncomfortable. But I don't care....I have no interest in getting involved with any of them. I find a lot of them attractive, nice curves, nice smiles and some are nice to be around....but I'm more attracted to my freedom and finances.

Being financially free is incompatible with being in a relationship...

Interesting. I used to get this sort of thing, usually at work. I found that people liked to dump their problems on me and would be looking for empathy.
Hiking trails? I find that people aren't really interested in chit chat and might nod and then go about their business.
Same thing at stores.
I don't walk around the neighborhood in order to avoid being drawn into these types of conversations. Heh.

Sometimes I think it would be fun to get involved with someone - a partner to eat out with, go to the beach, restaurants, sporting events, etc. I thought it would be especially fun to hang out with someone in that younger age range, before being bitter/jaded/etc....but there is a price to pay.

So I emailed Amway girl (who was flirty with me at the grocery store when we talked for 10 minutes) and asked some questions about her gym. She gave me info and then I followed up on payment terms. Basically I didn't want to commit for a year and was asking if they have a month to month deal or the like.

No response.

Women depise frugality from men...and any hesitation to throw away money is seen as a red flag.

The "alpha" thing to do would have been to act like I was 10 years younger and call/text her and give the impression that I am wealthy. Guess I'm too honest for today's dating scene lol.
