I understand that, it's the "can you still be a mgtow" part that's strangely funny. Do your thing.

In any event, too "blue pill".
I've been in the same "grunt" role for 12 years now. If I were to get promoted, it probably would have happened by now. I have thought about looking for a different job and the thing with piercings is that you have to leave something in there for at least a year before you can take it out. That could be an issue when going on job interviews.

I remember seeing in another post that you're in your 70s? I think most in your generation would agree with you. I can definitely see how it would come across as more "blue pill" which I think is one reason why I hesitate.

I would never do ear gauges, that's a bit too much.

Why are you asking for permission? That's not masculine.

I have three piercings and I didn't give a fuck what anyone thinks. That's masculine.

If a company has an issue with you piercing your ears, it's time to find a new company.

Or, don't get them pierced because you're worried about losing your job. Your choice.

I personally don't care and I also don't think MGTOW as a philosophy says anything about your own artistic expression. Your body, your choice as the feminists say lol. You do you, as always.

Um, but yeah job wise, do you need to "stay in line" with management that leans more "conservative" socially? Then you might want to reconsider. And do you work for a small company? Now if you work for a huge company and you have some protection of your position, I guess do what you want. Let's say you flip burgers or clean toilets and it doesn't matter... is it possible it might matter in the future? Consider what you do now and how it may impact first impressions and networking opportunities to get better employment.

Most of my decisions come from survival standpoint. I try to not to fuck with my own employment options by having crazy colored hair and tattoos up to my eyeballs. In fact, I would love to be tatted all over up to my eyes, but I see it as detrimental to my employment currently. At some point, I could see myself doing that, when my life no longer requires traditional employment. I also have a hard time leaving 1 piece of art up and not changing it out to something else.

Think about how ridiculous rap artists are! Look at post-Malone, covered in tatts up to his face. Probably for him and the rest, it just doesn't matter what they do, as they don't work for an hourly wage. They can literally do whatever they want, and that itself is a luxury. It's a luxury to be able to express yourself and be totally off-the-wall. It's part of their "act" and "persona" which is their PRODUCT!
If you sell tattoos or piercings, you should have a couple of each I would think. Know your audience, but be yourself.

True. It's about knowing the game you're in and the rules of that game.
If you want to have certain jobs, you would need operate within certain rules. Likewise with entertaining certain women.
Rules can be bent or broken but the scope of this is also subject to certain rules.

    Good points.
They are shorthanded and I wouldn't be violating any HR guidelines so they wouldn't fire me. It could raise eyebrows and keep me from being promoted but I've never been promoted anyway.

Yeah. Often employers will judge their employees and discriminate against them covertly.

I've already proven myself with current employers. I have been considering jumping ship and you bring up a good point. Perhaps I'll wait until I get my employment situation straightened out and then revisit.

It's a large company and it's not something they would fire me over. It could ruffle some feathers and I could end up standing out when I typically prefer to keep a low profile. I do IT work so I'm not looking to impress anyone to climb the corporate ladder but none of the other male "professionals" (IT, Accounting, Marketing, HR, etc) sport earrings.

Good points. Maybe I'll just hold off on it for now and revisit down the line. I don't want to wait until I get too old to do it though.

I'd be within the official HR guidelines. It's those pesky unwritten rules that I could be breaking.

I once read that in the States, you can be fired without reason. Is that true or bullshit?
It's not the case in the UK, the employee has a little more protection.

Yazza Bozz! Only union protected slaves receive special treatment, all the rest are disposable. The American worker is the modern day slave to the oligarchy and taxmasters.

Not all jobs and all states, but for a lot of the US, it's true. The poorer states, especially ones in the south are all that way. Usually they come up with some phony crap before they can you, but they don't have to. I don't remember the reasoning, other than cooperate greed. Maybe someone can help us out?

I used to be that piercing the left ear meant you were heterosexual while piercing the right one meant you were homosexual. Then if you had both ears pierced, it meant you were bisexual. However, I don't think they go by that standard anymore.
