Anyone else finding the extreme hypergamy on display in that show a hilarious train wreck?

Havent seen that show in a few years

I found the women looking overseas the most entertaining. One lady about 60 sold everything and moved to India. It turned out the 30 yr old guy was already married and was carted off to jail once the authorities found out he took on another wife. Another lady, 50s was sending cash to a guy in Africa that didnt care about her, just the money she sent. Between me and you, he earned it, because he did put up with the grouch when she came to visit...She was nasty trailer trash

While the footage the viewer is presented is heavily edited for maximum drama, the series and its spin-offs are an excellent window into the mechanics of human relationships.

Usually, women offer
Youth/Beauty/Virtue/Pleasing Personalities
to men
with Physicality/Resources/Social Status/Pleasing Personalities.

On this show, you can see couples where the exchange is out of whack.

For example, the couple is doomed when the foreign man has the Youth and Beauty and the American woman is offering the Resources, even when they are a low wage worker and the major Resource they can offer is a green card.

That was not my experience or observation at all.

The sponsored person does not get a permanent status until 3 years.

The sponsored person cannot sponsor themselves until they have a permanent status.

They can only bring in immediate family.

That process can take a decade.
