5 Ways Feminism Has Ruined America

With the debate of feminism revived by Sarah Palin's recent claim that she's one of them, Phyllis Schlafly is jumping in with a new book that suggests the 1960s "women's revolution" movement is ruining women and the country. Written with her niece Suzanne Venker, The Flipside of Feminism provides readers with a new view of women in America.

The bottom line, says Venker, is that, "Feminism has sabotaged women's happiness." Worse, she adds, it's flipped male-female relationships upside down. Just one example: Men more than ever are seeking love, marriage and kids while women want independence.

As Schlafly's niece, Venker grew up seeing an alternative view to mainstream feminists views on TV and in the media. Now as a mother in Missouri, she's trying to help her aunt highlight what conservatives feel is wrong with feminism and to build a new understanding between men and women.

The book is controversial, especially in liberal circles, for lines like this: "Unfortunately, once feminism came along, women abandoned their pedestal in droves and decided they wanted to share the man's pedestal with him. They claimed they wanted both sexes on the same pedestal to represent equality and prove men and women are the same. Instead, they found themselves in conflict. Since there isn't enough room on a pedestal for both of them, feminists pushed men off to make room for themselves." She added, "That's not equality. That's matriarchy."

On sex: "Sex is a problem, too. More and more wives today say they're too tired for sex. ...Naturally, this poses a problem for husbands, who are rarely too tired for sex. Sex is a man's favorite past time, and the wives who are too tired to have it are often resentful of this fact. If change is going to come, it will have to come from women—they are the ones who changed the natural order of things. Moreover, men aren't the ones who kvetch about their place in the world—not because they have it so great, contrary to feminist dogma, but because it's not in their nature. Men tend to go along with whatever women say they need."


The duo have also raised concerns about Palin calling herself a conservative feminist. "You can't be both," says Venker, who adds that Palin is "confusing" conservatives by calling herself a feminist.

Mainstream media and liberal politicians and pundits also take a big hit, blamed for promoting feminism. They are especially critical of the "feminist elite" including Oprah, first lady Michelle Obama, CBS anchor Katie Couric, and Arianna Huffington. "What these women have in common is clout, and they believe they know that's best for women," they write, adding: "The problem is that the majority of women in this country don't have the power—feminists do. And feminists influence liberals as well as conservatives to confirm to the feminist message."

1. It hurt marriage. Women want to wait so that they can keep their identities longer and men are finding easy sex, taking away a big reason for marriage.

2. Undermines child rearing. More kids are in childcare where discipline is lax resulting in a "epidemic" of bad kids, childhood obesity, and bullies.

3. Two-income trap. With both husband and wife working it's hard to live without life's luxuries.

4. Undermines college sports. Title IX has ended many male-only sports at some colleges.

5. Emasculates men. It's better to be a wuss than speak up or mouth off and face charges of harassment or chauvinism..

No, its men and the patriarchies fault. it always is.

But seriously though, this is pretty accurate. specially the 5th one :

apparently its sexism and mansplaining if i point out a woman is wrong. so many men these days are feminine and proud to be betas. i hate seeing it happen to our culture so much.

They were ruined since Eve.

I take issue with these 2 points:

2. Their kids are "Bad" because they carry the genetics of the so called "Bad boys" these women tend to sleep with. Then there is no man at home to discipline the kid into not being an Asshole.

4. There are alot more important things to worry about than the quality of college sports. Furthermore did they ever think what chasing men out of academia would do? At the best it would cause a brain drain of smart people, at the worst it would be a threat to national security. But no "Mah NCAA bracket".

Finally reading this was almost as painful as watching the torture scene from oldboi. You'd think those tradcon women knew how to write better than 9th graders.

How charmingly old-school. This was written by someone deeply out-of-touch.

Protip: women are never too tired to have sex with a charming, aggressive alpha male with a lot of money.

I believe the "tired" thing is just an excuse women make out of frustration that their beta bux chump husband doesn't understand his role in their life. Imagine if you hired a maid to clean your house and she keeps insisting that you play soccer with her, and your are too hypocritical to explain to her what her role is.

We just have to accept that Cupcake doesn't give a Dolby-stereo rat's fart about anything but her own selfish, self-aggrandizing, self-centered, self-serving agenda.

One way of "accepting" that is to ignore it completely. Another way, if by some incredible stroke of "luck" you might find yourself in an Alpha leadership role to some particular Cupcake, is to shame the hell out of her for not following YOUR protocol. Don't expect the latter to do any good, because women are inclined to forget their sins in the interest of "I'm the vessel of the future of the Race."

Women have babies, and babies are our future - therein lies the source of Everlasting Gynocentrism.

Good point about tradcon women. At times their articles against feminism make it look as if someone is finally empathizing with men. But as was pointed out on our recent thread called "The Anti-Feminist Feminist," be leery of these pro-men women. We discussed the many transparent motives whether it be female so-called Father's Rights advocates or just another version of enticing a workhorse. Female PUA basically! As Sandman said they are all but saying, "I'll fuck you every week if you give me the cash and prizes."

Now as far as those tradcons that Invisible Target mentions, they are just are mad at the feminists for being another part of the multiple reasons why marriage is becoming so not-worth-it for men.

It's yet another reason their daughter Suzy Rotten Crotch can't find a man to be a good little beta provider boy to take care of her after she's been ejected from the cock carousel. Aw, poor Mrs Tradcon might not get any paid for grandkids at this rate!

They just want to find a way to get men back to being a workhorse/slave. If it's words against one a major anti-male prong, feminism, that is one thing. Not very much at all.

Seeing these anti-feminist women does not give me a proverbial boner regarding this battle of the sexes. I sure did not hear their outrage during Gamer Gate (I don't play video games but felt those guys got hosed and heard no defense from these alleged non feminist women.)

But till they change the no fault divorce nonsense and eliminate alimony, etc--it's just cheap talk in a few ways. True man, so true. I have this boss she goes at me for the smallest things and I can't do shit about it.

They reap what they sowed. They thought it was fun to eject hubby from the household. Guess what, the sons got wiser from the fathers' mistakes, and the gravy train is stopping. The only problem these women have is that they were born too late for the fun.

Women talking to women about men. Like talking to a stylist about car problems. Women don't want to hear the Truth about how it is for us. The pro mens women movement will not allow men to be allies or have a seat at the table. Like feminist allies, pro men allies will be UN balanced people. Men will be chastised for not talking about our problems in a manner comfortable for women.
