Thread: What is destroying rural America?

I had to put this in the ghost sub-forum because it really fits and identifies what's happening to the United States and why our standards are becoming 3rd world banana republic in each and every way.

It wasn't that long ago we were predicting Venezuela type standards and now we have the empty shelves and hyperinflation to prove it!

It wouldn't surprise me if Tucker Carlson gets "Brightbarted".

That's because allot of faces are getting skinnier, have you seen the prices of food today? If you can find it? More people should learn Spanish, so we can be EXACTLY like Venezuela instead of a wannabe!

As far as Left wing politics goes part of the plan is to drive everyone into Urban centre's so it is easier to watch and control them. They would be targeting rural communities to drive these people towards cities. It has been happening for over a century now.

Slightly related observation I have made over the years. I am first generation Australian, my grandparents on both sides of my family came from Europe after WW2. I have known people with similar backgrounds as well. Of the relatives we have and other people in general who stayed in the "Old countries" they do quite well, or at least their kids have done well. Highly educated, well dressed, good lives, good health.

We had it harder here. Your comment made me think of all of that, sometimes running away for perceived greener pastures isn't what it's all cracked up to be.

Where I stand (under injunction followed by CEASE AND DESIST), the USA is a failed experiment and everything it's not supposed to be (a criminal reckless endangerment on human life with redress denied and tyranny implemented). America has stage 4 geo-judicial-executive cancer allowed to fester and propagate.

I worked for a sawmill that owned enough timberland to last them forever, had they wanted. Three years before the crash of the timber empire, they started cutting it as fast as they could. The good stuff went to the docks and on to Japan. Cull logs not worth exporting went to the mill, where production naturally dropped. Management blamed the crew, saying we were lazy and stupid. Setting us up they was. When the wood was gone, they pulled the plug. It started again, but it was just dying quivers. Another year and the place burned. In case you don't know, arson is a time-honored way to get rid of a factory you don't want.

Now days small town prosperity seems to depend on how close you are to an interstate highway. Close by, you're alright. An hour away, things are shaky. Much more than that and you live in a ghost town. My town made an "industry site" out of the old mill property, but it's a lame joke how little industry they have. Three quarters of the working stiffs here have to drive an hour to find a job worth having.

This is also the primary motivation behind the "National Popular Vote" movement. It's an attempt to loophole around the Electoral College and put political power squarely in the urban centers. In rare instances, this will result in single party rule via the Executive branch. I'm not so sure it will stand up to a Constitutional challenge, but little by little the NPV is being enacted in state after state. Once they reach the majority of electors, it effectively comes into practice. At that point, the electors of states that have enacted it must cast their votes for the national popular vote winner regardless of the popular vote of their own state. This will effectively eliminate any political influence of rural areas.

Interesting. It's stuff like this that exposes how childlike and naive I can be to again ask the universe, what makes people turn into adults who so willingly want to be so unfair to other people?

Narrow minded narcissism and rush to judgment by those spoiled in the juices of their own lavishness they cannot see.

Killing the electoral college is like two metropolises and one town voting on what's for dinner! New York state is a prime example of this, rural New York state looks like an apoplectic movie set! Massachusetts too, Boston is the center of the universe while the Berkshires had to make their own money (berk'shares) just to survive!

Bordering Hamden County in central Mass, I consider myself half way to hell in either direction!

I have a buddy in New England, went there for college. I always enjoy my time in Boston and the area in general, but they truly do act like their shit don't stink. Was talking to a few folks at a Massachusetts wedding, and they act like the world ends at Pennsylvania.
