Throughout much of the world, as well as the majority of US history, multi-generational housing is the norm. You lived with your parents, took care of them as they aged, and your children did the same for you as you aged. This is default, the current trend of moving out is an anomaly.

I lived with my father till my 30s so there is no shame living with parents when you have saved enough to move out.
