Finally Time To Ghost For Me

Good morning brothers. I've been mgtow for a decade now and have always been attracted to the idea of ghosting. In some ways I'm semi-ghosted now working full time remotely and I'm very private about my life in general. However, my coworkers for the most part are my friends also. I've worked with some through multiple IT companies for 20+ years so we all know each other pretty well. This makes ghosting difficult where I'm at (somewhat).

Given the political direction lately and the insistence on forcibly telling me what to do physically I think I'm finally over the edge and about to implement a real ghosting strategy. I've read lots of the posts and thought some feedback would be great. Negative or positive. Here are some strategies/tactics I'll be doing.

    1. I already have a roommate who owns the house I rent 1/2 of. My name is nowhere on any lease or document outside of a simple rental agreement we signed and uploaded to Google docs. I pay rent biweekly and have no bills outside of groceries and some misc stuff - youtube, netflix etc. After November the roommate is open to me paying 100% in bitcoin lol. Not sure if I can get any more "off the grid" than paying like that.

    2. Re #1 I'm going to get rid of all my subscriptions most likely. I really enjoy them all so I think I may just give a lump sum to one/both of my daughters and let them pay and I'll just use theirs. We already share some stuff like that and it works well. So as much as possible I'll have my name on nothing.

    3. I already have a ups box for mail and nothing comes to my house. I can put this in my kids name also easily. This makes moving around so easy. No need to change mailing address.

    4. For now at least there's just no getting around kyc for some financial stuff. I'll live with that since many of the bigger companies like Fidelity and Vanguard are super freaky about leaking info. It would do nothing but hurt them.

    5. I own a vehicle. I can transfer to one of my kids and just use it. My daughters are wonderful and I can't imagine life without them so I don't have many worries they will do anything shady.

    6. I will need to change jobs. Without being too open I work somewhere DIRECTLY affected by Bidens new mandate. I'm in IT so I'm not sure if running my own 1099 business or working for a very small company might be better at this point.

What am I missing? Anything big? After typing all that out I think I'm a lot more ghosted than I realized already.

If you put your car in someone else's name, make sure the insurance don't fall through the cracks.

It depends on what your doing as to how much ghosting you might need. Since I mostly mind my own business and what I do don't affect others much, I don't think anybody's paying much attention. I probably don't need to live that far underground.

Hi Old-brah, it seems like you're pretty well-ghosted already.

However if I may give a little feedback:

For #1, its always good to have a form of paper-trail/simple acknowledgement that you have paid your share of the rent, otherwise you are depending on the trust and goodwill of other person on the lease. Should your room-mate ever decide to break the trust, your room-mate can always claim that you have been in arrears on the rent and forcibly evict you or worse, retain/sell some belongings in order to cover the claimed rent owed. As such, I would make sure that there is a paper-trail of rental paid and acknowledged by the other party, it could be something simple like a text-message stating that you have paid rent for xx week and his acknowledgement thereof.

For #5, you know your children's characters best and if you do decide to transfer ownership, you should have already considered the risks that there have been children who have reneged on the promissory use of property/vehicles of their parents once said items have been transferred over to them; some children have even sold the property/vehicles years later when facing some sort of difficulty, financial or a breakdown in the relationship.

I think my visceral reaction to the vaccine mandate and watching the speech may have made me overreact a little this weekend. I think what you are saying is true nobody much cares. I'm not legally tied to anyone like I was when I was married so someone would need to go to great lengths to get at what i have.

I do have a bank transfer trail for now on rent transfers. I will need to think more on how to "prove" I paid when we go to bitcoin. Currently using Strike so I'll make sure she is on there with a username so that will create a history of transfers.

I also think I was overreacting to the events of Thursday/Friday. I'm just so determined NO ONE will ever take my resources again like occurred after my divorce. Mine wasn't even that bad and it still bothers me 10 years later all the effort I expended to see it go to someone else.

Re: my vehicle. I think I'll just do nothing for now and if/when I decide something I may just downgrade to a fairly used vehicle to minimize the already slim possibility my children (or their future bf's/spouses) might do something shady.

I didn't know you'd been through the wringer already. I suppose that would change a guys attitude. Still, as long as you got nothing someone else wants, it's amazing how little attention people pay. They really are hung up in their own life's most a the time.
