    Chlomiphene Citrate (Clomid), testosterone production

Hey all, a post about a medical subject here. I've seen an endocrinologist and started a course of chlomiphene citrate (a.k.a. Clomid). It's... wait for it... A female fertility drug.

    Yeah.

So I'm on half the dose that barren women would take. Anyways, at these low doses it's a testosterone booster. There are tons of details online, for example:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16422830

A couple of huge fucking juicers I know started getting this drug to compensate for their balls shiveling into near-uselessness. Androgel, direct testosterone supplements, and a lot of steroids kill the gonads' ability to produce its own testosterone so for them it's a requirement to stimulate the T production when off-cycle.

Clomid however, compels your balls do the work of producing testosterone. So it's like the opposite of androgel or roids, as their introduction of foreign testosterone will atrophy your innate ability to produce T. Clomid however makes you make your own T.

For me, I found that my energy levels had diminished. I'm still doing cardio, but I haven't lifted a weight in months. So some buddys noticed I was fucking moping about, and told me to get it checked out. I visited the doc, and got tested. Sure 'nuff, low testosterone for a man my age (early 40s). It's probably also a factor in too much aerobic activity, going MGTOW and not even thinking about sex if possible (I believe the conscious mind can impact hormones, though to a lesser extent than the other way around). I suspect it could also be caused by getting my balls chronically compressed between my torso and a bicycle seat too often.

I'm about 3 weeks into the course of drug - and it's a slow process. I was also disgnosed with ridiculously low vitamin D, but I'm not addressing that issue yet as I want to limit the variables I'm changing, to measure effectiveness.

What I can say thus far is:

    1. I get occasional "rushes". Similar to a hot flash, but I also get the urge to expend physical energy. Gotta get up and move, or something. I also get pissed at left-wing idiots easier.
    2. Greasier skin. Got a couple of zits before I realized that it was happening, and upped my attention to facial cleansing.
    3. No hair loss (yet - fingers crossed).
    4. Increased libido. Not enough to make me go and chase a cupcake, but I went from not rubbing one out for over a month at a time, to doing it daily.
    5. Female attention. Seriously, in 3 weeks I haven't improved my physique at all, nor have I changed my wardrobe whatsoever. But in the last 3 weeks I've been seeing indicators of interest (IOI) all over the damn place. Could be my perception, but I don't think that's the case. I actually think these broads can smell a high-T man.
    6. Better sleep. I sleep more (before I would have 4-6 hours of poor quality sleep a night, now I'm getting 6-7 much better sleep)
    7. More energy. I don't have to force myself to be active - it's a little more "natural".

So having established that this is definitely making a difference, I've recently started lifting again. Next month, I start taking vitamin D supplements.

Just thought I'd mention it - I actually figure that GMOW, and avoiding my sexuality to a degree (dropped the last FWB back in December '14) has impacted my hormones. Some of you guys might experience something similar... Just a thought.

I'm a big believer in weights over cardio, especially as you get older.
Not surprised at the Vitamin D problem, considering where you live.

Hmmm ... you are taking a female fertility drug ... maybe that explains why I look 6 months pregnant

10 years ago, when I was 35 or 36, I went to see Dr. K. and asked him, among other things, for advice on losing weight. After looking at my blood work, he told me that my active testosterone is low, but not low enough for him to recommend testosterone replacement therapy. He told me he believes that every man, regardless of age, should have the active testosterone level of a healthy 25 year old.

He told me to take Zinc and 75 mg of DHEA/day to boost my own production of testosterone. And prescribed Arimidex, a drug approved by the FDA for either pre-menopausal or post-menopausal women. Arimidex reduces the rate at which testosterone gets converted to oestrogen. A few months later, he switched me to Anastrozole, a generic version of Arimidex.

Dr. K. has since become a registered sex offender and lost his medical license (so much for his 25 year old testosterone level theory). I have since asked three doctors to prescribe Anastrozole for me. Two refused (including an endocrinologist who told me that my testosterone is within range for my age, and doesn't believe in this healthy 25 year old levels theory), and one prescribed a minuscule amount that barely made any difference.

If the only thing Chlomid does is boost your own production of testosterone, you may want to try a combination of Zinc and DHEA to see if you get the same effect. With no medication though, part of that extra testosterone will turn into oestrogen. So, you might want to find out whether chlomid reduces the rate at which that conversion occurs.

Low testosterone definitely makes it easier to go your own way. But that ("that" = making it easier, not the GYOW) is not worth the health disadvantages that come with it.

Depends on the weight of weights and your weight . For health its cardio and your own bodyweight excercises .

First, a correction: it's Anastrazole, NOT Anastrozole. After I posted, I did a quick Google search. It seems like white button mushrooms accomplish roughly the same thing as Anastrazole: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3074486/ . I just ordered a few kits to grow it myself at home.

Hey Abdenour, thanks for that info. I'll definitely ask the doc about estrogen conversion. Good tip on the mushrooms too

Vitamin D also improves testosterone levels among many other things so you should see further gains from that. I live in a cloudy climate near the Arctic and supplement almost year-round. Another life hack with various benefits is cold showers.

Another thing Dr. K. told me when he prescribed Arimidex (then Anastrazole) to me is that if my oestrogen levels dropped too low (because of the reduction in the conversion of testosterone to oestrogen), that would increase my risk of prostate cancer. And that I should go back to see him every 3 months to monitor my blood work for such risk.

I read independently from another source (a book) that echinacea helps prevent prostate cancer. So, after a couple of months of this white button mushrooms, I plan to add echinacea to my supplements regimen. And maybe after a year or so, if I feel the effect of higher testosterone, go get my blood checked to make sure my oestrogen is not too low.

Thanks Chairborne for posting this!!! Very VERY interesting (I'm older than you, mid 50s)

I agree on the Zinc recommendation, but don't over do it. Zinc is not water soluble. meaning it can build up in your system to unsafe levels (or so I have heard.)

I'm down to "rubbing one out" every other day, or every third day. I consider frequency of "sexual release" a leading indicator of health.

After a healthy (mid-level stress), hard, and long (hrs long) mtn bike ride I NEED to rub one out. It is simply another form of reward for getting out and taking care of myself.

And yes, women can sense SEX in a Man. Yesterday (at Trader Joes) several women were "cue-ing" onto me. I rubbed one out the evening before, and/or that I was wearing a slightly sweaty shirt may have had something to do with it. shrugs. i don't care. fuk that noise. Regardless, I left without hardly looking, and certainly didnt bother to strike up a conversation (except with the blonde clerk that I chat with sometimes, ~ 20 years my jr, If i had to guess i'd say she is a single mom and "on the market" ..... you made bad choices? tough shit, live with them lady. The entire country lifts you up, and helps you out. Show me a Man (just one) that that has happened to, & I'll show you 100,000 women with multiple handouts that span decades.)(SORRY, SORRY, i got off on a rant, again. my bad)

Any one else here try iodine supplementation? Helps with thyroid function, prostate health and adrenal fatigue. Also supposedly helps with testosterone production. We are ingesting a lot of "ines" that are hidden in our food, water and environment. these are fluorine, chlorine and bromine. All of which take up home in our thyroid and block its normal function. I have been taking it for about a year and half now with some good results. Cleared up my psoriasis, better energy, enlarged prostate(was getting up to pee 3 or 4 times a night), allergies gone and brain fog lifted. My friend Edgar cayce calls iodine the oil for your glands. Worth a little research. Be careful when you start if you choose to. I was out of sorts for a few days due to the release of the undesirables into the bloodstream. I feel better now then I did in my twenties.

I sometime take iodine as part of a supplement called Thyroid RX. But not as consistently as I should.

Correction: the supplement to reduce the risk of prostate cancer is Saw Palmetto, NOT echniacea. I just ordered some last night from the Life Extension Foundation.

Are you sure you didn't get your balls chronically compressed by trying to avoid getting arrested for manspreading ?

I have a new conspiracy theory: manspreading is a concept invented by big pharma to sell more low T related drugs, and feminists are just being used as useful idiots to womanspread the fight against manspreading.

From what I hear, they HAVE to!

The Mark McGuires/Barry Bonds of the world have jacked up their T levels so artificially high that they have I guess depleted their bodies of the ability to manufacture a sufficient level of testercerone there.

Did I hear this from a doctor? No, from a AM shift sports radio host. But it sounds about right to me. Not a confirmed fact.
