    Re: Banhammer-Nacht is August 30

I thought it might be interesting to any of our members to show here a portion of the New Members list. This list can be accessed from the home page by any logged-in member.

The most recent new member is at the top. Unfortunately, the columns are unidentified but here they are, separated by virgules:

Username / Registration Date (day/month) / Total Number of Posts Made By This Member

Those names with strike-though have already been banned. Notice the number of people who register but then do nothing further. This is not uncommon. Only a minority follow through with an Intro post. The obvious spam/female registrations I've banned. Some are ambiguous so in fairness I treat them as if they are legit and process them for lack of Intro as I do for all the others. Many will end up with strike-through by end of tomorrow, but the most recent might not, and may show up on a future Banhammer-Nacht.

Several have not confirmed their registration email that we sent them, and I've sent them a second email to advise them of this and to either find that registration email and confirm it, or contact me. But they do neither. For instance, milemarker needs to confirm his registration and has logged into this site on these days, if not more: August 10,11,13,15,17,19,21, and 26th. He had to have seen my follow-up PM pop-up to him dated Aug 15 when he logged in that day but also is he not checking his email Inbox or Junk folder to see the original registration email and the email that resulted from my follow-up PM. Or, he ignores them, which is short-sighted. Registrants who have not confirmed their registration can log-in but can't do anything except read posts and PM the mods, which means he has no more privileges than an unregistered lurker except he can PM the Mods and he is not doing that. He cannot post a new message and if he clicks Reply to an existing message he will get a large pop-up notice to confirm his registration or contact us. So, if he sticks around under these conditions then he's content with just looking. Expect a strike-though in his name sometime tomorrow, then when he next tries to log-in he will receive only a brief message telling him why he was banned and that he can view the site as a non-member.

Note: this list includes new members who have done a valid Intro so if you are one of them and see yourself on this list, do not think you are in danger! LOL.

    Re: Banhammer-Nacht is August 30

Our Intro is a requirement, not optional, and many new members provide one without prompting. In fact, a personalized invitation or prompt from a Moderator is not a prerequisite to perform the Intro requirement. As has been pointed out by members, for some men reliving their experiences for an Intro can be difficult or painful. Yet, they get 'er done. Several members have later made comment on how writing the Intro was cathartic and helpful to them. Certainly it is fair to these members who are in compliance including the ones who have done the hard thing by pushing themselves to write the Intro that we not permit others to slide by.

As before, here is a list of registered members who have not done the required Intro. Several of these accounts are simply dormant. Some members have quit visiting and no doubt have moved on. Some may have assumed registration was required for viewing the site and therefore never intended to post. Some may either misunderstand our website or don't care enough. Any one may not belong here and making an Intro would reveal this.

Unless noted otherwise below, I have messaged each of them on two different occasions but have not heard back from them. As before, I am closing these accounts without malice.

As usual there are a number who have made zero posts.

Just a suggestion, but maybe many of these people create accounts because when viewing as a lurker some of the pictures and videos are inaccessible and therefore it is difficult to follow the thread. I'm sure there is some technical reason for this and if this point has been made before please accept my apologies.

Do you have examples of this? I have no problem when logged off. For instance, the recent Dorian thread has both a link and an embedded video and I can click on both when lurking.

Here are just a few I was able to find:

    http://www.goingyourownway.com/mgtow...ge-told-12575/

Bottom of page 1, post by Zasta, giphy.gif. If I right click on the unloaded image and click view image I get this message:

Sorry for the quality of the image, it basically says either I need to login, I have insufficient privileges. or my account has been disabled.

There are two more in the same thread on page 2, one from redpillbible and one from mgtowforever

    Again here:

I know there are many more, but finding them would take some time. I hope this is enough, if not let me know and I will try to seek some of them out.

    Hi Jackoff,

Your examples all are of attachments at the bottom of the post. What you point out is by design. Guests do not have attachment permissions.

When logged-in, the attachment is displayed as a thumbnail, at least on my Firefox browser, and clicking it will display it all by itself.

When not logged-in, the attachment is displayed as filename text, and clicking it will show that box that you described.

In each instance, the attached image is fully displayed in the body of the post above the thumbnail and anyone who is not logged-in can still see it.

I don't think that difference is going to change for those not logged-in. But, to adjust your point, do we wonder if perhaps someone will least computer experience will think the URL represents something different from the image displayed directly above it? Possibly, but would so many people be least knowledgeable and each care enough to register to find out? When logged out, I could still right-click to open/save the main image. If they needed the image that they do see, for more than just viewing, perhaps they would try right-clicking before they would spend the effort to register?

BTW, in the upper right corner of each post is a unique reference number inside the colored bar to use as an easy reference. You can also click on that number to make a URL that places that post at the very top. Then when you show that URL as a link, when someone clicks on it, they will pull up the thread starting at that post.

Like this example of Post #20:

This is what I see when not logged in:

If I right click on the inline position holder and click view image that's when I get the error message.

And this is what I see when logged in:

It is the same for each of the posts I mentioned above.

FYI I am also using Firefox.

Nice tip about the ref. no. and the URL.

Hmm... Here's what I see when not logged in:

Have you tried right-clicking on that little square box to select View Image? In other instances, I've had to do that to get the image to paint.

We are both using Firefox and both are not logged-in therefore we are at same level of security. I am using a desktop PC. Are you using mobile phone or other device?

    Interesting.

I'm using a laptop running Win 7 home premium with all updates installed (totally legit - came with the machine, in case you might be wondering). Also I have AdBlock Plus running, but even when disabled (not uninstalled) I get the same results. This is the only add-on I have installed. The little square box is what I have referred to as the position holder, so yes and that is when I get the error (insufficient privilege) message. I also have an option to reload the image but that has no discernable effect.

    I am using Win10.

Can anybody reading this weigh in, please? Log off, then go to this Post #20:

    http://www.goingyourownway.com/mgtow...75/#post142775

Do you see the full image inside the body of the post, or do you see a small icon in its place? If the latter, can you right-click and reload it to make it appear?

Log back in, return here and indicate your results, also what device you used and what operating system.

Maybe we can get another person with Win10 and also with Win7 to each tell us what they see. Thanks.

I am on Arch Linux, browser Firefox, and I cannot see the image when logged out AND cleared the cache (ctrl-f5 to refresh page). Tested with Chromium browser (same OS as before), and its behaving same, image not loading.

I guess I really have no solution as to how to convenience non-members whose particular browser/device might disallow them from viewing images. If they do register just to see the images, then I suppose I'll add that reason to my mental list of why people register and make zero posts and no Intro, and I'll just continue to process them with all the others, never knowing the individual reasons of all whom I process, but each of them will understand the common reason why they end up on the banned list that I make.

    Thank you for the input.
