    "Great Lie"

as most here seem to believe that we spent most of our youth being lied to... lets list some of them...
here's my first one: "Be Yourself"

yeah... adults tell you that for most of grade school... and yet, when you do.. you end up "punished" by the other students for being "different"...
anyone else care to list some???

    Re: "Great Lie"

Oh my shit, where to start?

    1) Girls like boys who are nice to them.
    2) Reporters won't lie to you.
    3) You can trust the government.
    4) Your doctor knows what he's doing.
    5) When you use foul language, your guardian angel cries.
    6) Don't masturbate, you'll go blind.
    7) Don't play with fire, you'll wet the bed.
    8) Fluoride prevents tooth decay (see also #4).
    9) Electricity is electrons flowing through a conductor.

and my favorite because so many people still believe this
    colossal whopper of a lie:
    drumroll please....

    10) E = MC^2

I could go on and on but will leave room for others.

I'm talking about spending one's youth being lied to in school..... not "urban legends"..
    in fact... speaking of schools.....

government class is where I got the brunt of it..... especially "inalienable rights"... I couldn't invoke the smallest of them without being ground under the rights of someone else... it was like I didn't count....
used to have this quote from "Animal Farm" once... "All animals are equal... but some are more equal than others." (a sickeningly sad truth)

now... don't get the wrong idea... I just think that Uncle Sam owes me an explanation for all this.... that's all I want... an explanation.

    couple more lies:

"There is someone out there for everyone."

good one..... I have heard some claim the bible says gays should be executed... but I find a problem with that.... specifically, such an action violates the Commandment "Thou shalt not kill". (it DOES NOT say "thou shalt not kill in certain cases"... just "thou shalt not kill<end of line>")

Yeah, I soon realized you were going for serious stuff.

Interestingly, I believe that even the phrase "urban legend" is an unfortunate misnomer (and I do notice that you likely know this, as you did put the phrase in quotes). A lot of these tales are so old as to have been well-known outside of urban areas, such as in suburbs and rural areas, areas that were dominant after WWII and prior to the internet. These "legends" are not exclusive to, or automatically derivative of, "urban" areas, if identifying them as urban suggests this.

Perhaps it's just a matter of time..
They might have been called "old wives tales" a generation earlier

I do agree to some degree.... the bible was mainly written about 3000 years ago... so most of the anti-gay stuff mainly stems from a pre-scientific understanding of things... hell, homosexuality was only recently removed from the DSM3 (1973 to be precise...)

    Re: "Great Lie"

another lie... "Girls like guys".... well, bit of story to that...
back in my teens, I was at a church dance... and my parents claimed that a girl walked up to me and asked for a dance.. to which I (supposedly) ignored her...
well... if something that radically different to my normal experience with girls happened... I should have been able to remember it..
guess they tell me that story just to make me feel guilty..

    Re: "Great Lie"

The biggest lie I was ever taught was looks are meaningless, personality is everything..

If you are an ugly guy (below average) you have one road to go down if you want mega tons of pussy.... you have to be violent. You have to strike fear in a girls eye and those around you without physically assaulting anyone. This is the only way to get through the ego and bullshit.. nothing you do will work.

This is what will give girls 'pussy tingles'. If you're an ugly guy running around trying to be mr.pua or mr. status you won't get anywhere.... with your ugly looks it will be impossible to build status. In the past you could NEG to lower the girls value, but since girls know about this now, the 'toughness' is the only thing which will break through.

The only way I can describe it is your toughness is more of a reaction to a situation, looking people dead in the eye, not trying to impress, rather than you walking around hitting people on their arm..

Back when I used to run around pursuing girls, I used to play heavily on this and it got me a lot of pussy. You do not have to 'threaten men' that would be weak, but the world needs to know you won't back down. You need to play it right. Only a certain type of person can do this without looking weak minded. Also, never tell stories about how tough you are to women or men.. these stories need to come from other people not you.

My mental shift came when i dropped all of the pua shit, stole a girls ciggerette and started smoking it.. she looked at me like this guy means business.

Unfortunately, this all gets harder when you get older. You are no longer in those big social groups in college/school.

What I have noticed also is women actually percieve better looking guys as seeming more tougher. I can only attribute this to hollywood movies. Your tough guys are pussy looking James Bonds and Jason Bourne's..

Social psychologists have proven that men who display more testosterone are considered more attractiv by women.

But, I wouldn't bother doing all of that. Mgtow is the way.

    Re: "Great Lie"

here's a big one for me... I "chose" to be single....
yeah, right.... I dont know about the rest of you, fellow taffers... but I was brought up on the idea that a "choice" implies that you got at least TWO options...
so just HOW could I have "chosen" to be single when my "options" were "be single" and nothing else... ????? (put simply, just what was my "Option B"???? Because as far as I could tell, there just wasn't any other option open to me...)

from what I'm seeing....seeking happiness in a relationship.... that's about as logical as curing a disease by killing the patient..
