New Movie..."The Hunt" You're shitting me?

I just read an article about a new movie being released called "The Hunt". Now, this is what gets me. After the shootings in Dayton and El Paso Hollywood actually thinks it's a good idea to release a film about a group of liberals that go hunting conservatives. Yeah! They actually spent money and made a movie about this shit! And they called "The Red Pill" hate speech?

I seen a bit about this on Fox News.

Have to admit I don't know how I feel about it just yet.

Sometimes the movie scene is simply reflecting society, but sometimes it seems to encourage specific behaviour.

To me at this time this movie seems to be more part of the latter than the former, but not having seen the finished production I will reserve a final verdict.

(I fixed the typos in your thread title.)

I've only heard tidbits from the radio, if true:

    1) That it's a parody. ??
    2) That conservatives prevail in the end.
    3) That the movie trailer was pulled because of objections.

Objections from exactly whom, I don't know, but I just saw an article where it says the trailer made the liberals to be the bad guys. There is a trailer on IMDB. I'd link the article except it's written to inflame. That article linked to another article which has other info:

A controversial movie about privileged vacationers hunting “deplorables” for sport is ruffling feathers more than a month before its scheduled release and after tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

According to the Hollywood trade publication, characters in the film refer to the victims as “deplorables,” which is what Hillary Clinton famously dubbed Trump supporters during the 2016 election. The report noted that a character asks, "Did anyone see what our ratf--ker-in-chief just did?"

“The Hunt” stars Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank, who play characters who represent “opposite sides of the political divide,” according to Masters and Siegel, who added that it was originally titled, “Red State vs. Blue State.”

Hollywood blockbuster that satirizes killing of ‘deplorables’ causes outrage: ‘Demented and evil’

Who needs this movie? Who thought this was a good idea, even if the recent killings had not occurred?

Here's another article, has more about the business end of it, and the first quote below explains an ad that was pulled and why:

Over the Aug. 3 weekend, ESPN pulled an ad for the film that it had previously cleared, while AMC ran the spot during the season premiere of its drama The Preacher. It's unclear whether the ads were identical, but the one yanked by ESPN opened with a sound resembling an emergency broadcast signal.

From a business perspective, The Hunt presents a gamble for Universal in these divided times. The satire Assassination Nation, which also pitted the woke versus the unwoke in uber-violent fashion, represented the top sale at Sundance 2018 at $10 million. But the film fizzled upon its release later that year, earning just $2 million with no international rollout. Says one person involved with that film, "We thought people would get the joke."

The Hunt made some executives at Universal skittish back in May 2018, when film chief Donna Langley acquired the script and fast-tracked it at a modest $18 million budget. It is unclear whether there were any other bidders on the property, the sale of which was brokered by CAA, but insiders at several studios told THR at the time that they did not pursue it because of the explosive premise. One executive says he didn't even read the script, noting, "The idea seemed crazy."

Ads Pulled for Gory Universal Thriller 'The Hunt' in Wake of Mass Shootings (Exclusive)
Note that the process of making this movie started in May 2018.

From the second article, do we not see something for the wimmenz? :

The script for The Hunt features the red-state characters wearing trucker hats and cowboy shirts, with one bragging about owning seven guns because it's his constitutional right. The blue-state characters — some equally adept with firearms — explain that they picked their targets because they expressed anti-choice positions or used the N-word on Twitter. "War is war," says one character after shoving a stiletto heel through the eye of a denim-clad hillbilly.
EDIT: NBC Nightly News had a report just now saying the movie was about the rich hunting the poor, nothing about liberal versus conservative or Red versus Blue, although they did mention the hunted were referred to in the movie as "deplorables" a name given by Hillary.

Apologies in advance if someone's already mentioned this, but I think it just got canceled. Details at DailyMail here:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...shootings.html

I'm surprised it made it this far without some bright bulb on the "other side" failing to realize that this movie would've been political suicide because of the left-wing armed violence it would've spawned.

The left wing has finally shown its true colors: They Want Us Dead. It's out in the open now, boys, no doubt about it, and it's ugly as hell.

Can you imagine if a conservative film studio released a movie that celebrated the hunting and killing of kidnapped liberals? The outcry would've been deafening, all over the fake-news sites. And even more calls for illegally disarming citizens.

I wouldn't mind seeing the studio and any/all advertising entities connected with this Nazi-inspired effort classified as terrorist organizations and then raided by SWAT teams.

I read that, too. Quite a fast turnaround, eh? As far as I'm concerned the damage has already been done. They made the movie AND made plans to release it. The rest of the country says WTF when we find out and they cancel the release. They've already put the mud on their faces and now they're trying to wipe it off with their own dirty rags. Typical Hollyweird behavior. It's just one more movie I won't be going to see.
