Talking Haven't been around for a while ...

... because I was in the loony bin. For real. Suffice it to say I wasn't doing too well. I was "diagnosed" (as much as you can call it that) with Shizoid personality disorder and severe depression. I'm on 200mg Zoloft now. Seems to stabilize my mood a bit, but there are still things I need to work on.
Don't really know what else to say, only that the depictions of psychiatric wards in some movies aren't too far off. Schizophrenics, paranoids and manic people really are weird fuckers haha.
My female therapist actually did a good job, which came as a pleasant surprise. Although you have to get lucky to get a good therapist, this is something I may continue to pursue in the future. Even if it's just for having someone to listen to my bullshit.
Other than that the events led to a reunion with an old friend. So I guess something good came from all that shit. Although I do get the impression that he's trying to convert me (he's a Christian)

    Anyway, glad to be back.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,Courage to change the things I can,And wisdom to know the difference.

Never heard of schizoid till joining up here. Have never been to the doc over it, but it would appear I have some too. Closer than the other's anyway.

Oh well, could be worse. My brother look's like a sociopath now and then. He's not dangerous, but has shown a shocking lack of empathy at time's.

Welcome back, glad you escaped, and hope you can keep clear of the bad part's from now on.

Yeah, Schizoid PD and MGTOW tend to have a lot in common. Of course, it gives scope for nay-sayers to claim that all MGTOW are schizoid, and that divorce-rape isn't really a thing at all.

How did this occur? Did you go in yourself?

    Glad to have you back.

Great you're back. Funny thing is, no kidding , I was thinking about your avatar the other day when a dumb broad driver pulled out in front of me, she taking a left, me going straight, when I said under my breath, "Ain't dealing with yo shit." It happened just that way.

BTW, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 2 years ago, at the behest of my out of control, druggy wife, (at the time). She felt that my spirited warnings and heightened passion about her 14 different prescriptions per day were a bit much. So, of course , I'm a nut job, because I can't handle her accusing me of stealing our money, cheating on her.........etc, the list goes on . None true.

In no way am I making light of mental illness & challenges, I've had them. My therapist says that I may have a small 'touch of mood swings', but debates whether or not I'm bipolar.

At any rate, take care or yourself, & continue to educate yourself about the condition. There may be another opinion out there, so you owe it to you to perhaps check with another Doc.

I like to joke about myself & say that my being bipolar involves eating 2 polar bars at one time. I'm not right.

As far as I'm concerned, Schizoid PD is just the way I am, i.e. my character. I don't really see it as a "disorder". That said, I do tend to take social withdrawal to extremes that aren't exactly healthy at times. So that is something I need to watch out for.

It was more or less suggested to me after a failed suicide attempt of mine. Consuming amphetamines probably didn't help all that much with my condition :>
Anyway, I'm now drug-free, smoke-free (once again) and all around better off than before. Although certain things aren't quite clear for me yet (especially regarding my career), I'm probably more optimistic than I've been in ages.

Re: Haven't been around for a while ...

    Hi welcome back

I know it is not my business but when I read you're taking drugs

    I'm on 200mg Zoloft now
I'm feeling bad for you. psycho-pharmaceutical drugs will destroy you if you keep taking them in the long run. I urge you to do some research on it. There are forums with people who got destroyed by this shit.
I need to do some search maybe I can find some of this forum. It was quite some years ago when I read the stories of people having been completely destroyed by drugs
A psychiatrist doesn't give a shit. They mostly even don't know what they are prescribing to you.

I have an anger problem since I was 17 years old and was forced to visit a shrink luckily my parents opposed the prescription after 1 week I was on, I was starting to tremble and shake really badly. As soon as I was off it I didn't.

Forgive me I don't mean to tell you what to do but I urge you to do some research on this subject and maybe read about the experience other people had with drugs like Zoloft. IMHO they are dangerous

Please if you can do without, go without it, there must be another way to get a balanced mental state without taking heavy and dangerous drugs.
I wish you all the best
