Messages from the Brotherhood of the Gold Ring

Moderators, please re-file this thread as appropriate or delete if duplicative.

    Preface:
After many years of completely not paying attention to other men and women and the state of relationships, two years ago while doing unrelated online work I stumbled onto an online article that dropped my jaw, opened my eyes, and finally filled in the gaps of my thinking between what married men would talk about and what they were not talking about, waaay back before the internet and back when I used to ask them. This article grabbed my attention because it validated my intuition. For years, I simply had had no facts, no actual testimonies, from married men. Maybe they told such things only to their drinking buddies, of which I was not one of them. Maybe they breathed a word to no one. Maybe they thought I was a snitch. They'd only speak of the flowery, positive parts of marriage. Again, for years I was completely indifferent to this stuff. However, I was so taken (er, shocked) by this article, so privy, finally, to a married man's inner thoughts about what he gave up of his soul, that I was completely diverted into checking the internet for more. And that is how I found MGTOW and this forum and have tried to stay in the loop ever since.

I recently again found that thread and present it to you below. It's long, and has many choice observations. Quite a read.

The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. - Mark Twain

A classic thread. I read it once every few months just to remind me what I'm missing

Thanks for this one. I just started reading this and found this zinger:

We were young and stupid, and didn’t realize the wedding cake was laced with Dr. Jekyll’s
    secret formula.
To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize. —Voltaire

And this, gentlemen, is how it begins. Some in this thread have wondered how we married fools got in this state. Well there you go. Did we see it coming? From our perspective, back then, this is exactly what it looked like. So different from all the sorry ass married fucks of our day! And yet, Fate’s cruel joke on us, is that we became those men we laughed at. And now a new generation of lambs arise, primed for slaughter as the last.
And this is what that song "Come On Eileen" is actually all about.

Then one fine Saturday morning, you’ll find yourself wandering through your umpteenth furniture store of the day looking for that perfect “banquet” (whatever that is), or finding
the perfect chaise (ditto) for the guest bedroom that hasn’t been used in over a year. Then it his you – you used to spend this time playing golf, sleeping, or having a great morning fuck with the same woman who’s calling you an “idiot” because you don’t know sangriafrom ecru. And something inside of you dies.
The only insight I have into living like this is the set of "Everybody Loves Raymond". The whole set is jammed - jammed full of shit and knicknacks. Visual noise.

I have a feeling that every man , during the first hour of the first date had the thought " She"s not the one" then dismissed that instinct. Welcome to Thunder dome.

One of my favourites was on the Dhammawheel forum, relating to meditation, this made me laugh, it might lose a bit in translation if your not to up to speed with the Buddha dhamma i guess......

I have heard that it is good to get married so that you can practice meditating on the suffering it brings.

Does this really work? Does Theravada advice this?
