    Thoughts on women flying planes?

Hi, I hope everyone is doing well and is having a good start to the year.

I was on a flight recently with a female pilot. I'm not a good flyer, since I don't like to hand over the fate of my life to another human being, and turbulence gives me dread and makes my heart go crazy. But I deal with it. But the thought of having a female pilot bothered me. Luckily the co-pilot was male or I may actually have had to request to be removed from the flight at the last minute. This would likely have gotten me shamed in the news and banned from the airline for life. Anyway, the weather was perfect the whole journey and the flight went smoothly, but the landing was not the best. Everyone clapped afterwards, and I know this sometimes happens when a pilot lands in bad weather, but I suspect in this case it may have been an artificial applause of encouragement since everyone knew the pilot was female.

I have no doubt that she was well trained and as experienced and skillful as her male counterparts. But training and experience cannot compensate for situations of high stress, and this is one area where women under-perform. This is the first time in my life I have had a female pilot, but I suspect it won't be the last. I'm fine with that, but I'm not fine with having both pilots as women. Does that bother you? What would you do if you boarded a flight and both the pilot and co-pilot were women?

Man this is a great question. Considering I will be doing a day long flight this year overseas, I had never thought of this more recently until you brought up this thread, but I had thought of this in the past and my thought was squarely "No" for the reasons you mentioned above. So I guess now, I have to figure out how im going to figure that out without having to cancel my flight last minute, cause who can afford that hahah!

Wow, Happy New Year to you, too! I had a recent flight where upon exiting it appeared that one pilot was a woman, she stood in the cockpit doorway and wore epaulets. I took notice and recalled the flight had had nothing unusual about it. But, I'm not sure I'd want to know going into the flight if the cockpit crew were all female. I guess they no longer have navigators, huh? LOL, I remember old movies. So, its just pilot and co-pilot.

Makes me wonder, is the occupation of pilot/co-pilot as vulnerable to sex quotas like so many other occupations? Does a female candidate have a lower threshold to beat than a male candidate? Do/will they populate the occupation to meet quotas at the expense of safety, relaxing any standards? Maybe I'll google later and see what I find on this.

I would be more worried about flying in a plane built by whimyn. Does Boeing have gender quotas?

While there might be some truth in what you say, being male don't make you a good pilot any more than being female makes you a bad one. Russia's Lilly Litvyak showed a bunch a squarheads who could fly and who couldn't in WW II.

Re: Thoughts on women flying planes?

In commercial aviation most of the flying is now done by the autopilot.
Even simple maneuvers, like turns, are done by the autopilot because its hard for any human to make a turn as smooth as a computer. And the passengers hate to be jerked around.

So, you could have a trained monkey flying the plane, and it would be safe 99.9% of the time.
The other 0.1% is when something goes wrong and the pilots have to do something different.

So, you might take solace in the fact that planes almost fly themselves. Why the hell do you think we have many female pilots?
    Because its easy nowadays...

Yes, I believe they do, since they're located in Washington State...the Women's state.
As for flying in a plane piloted by a woman? Once I discover there are women fling in the plane with me, the trip is already ruined. Then...I start hoping we DO crash so I can die.

Well, it could go either way.
    1) It could end up like the bridge thing again and people die. Oh, well. Pussypass activated. Too bad for the suckers that are dead.
    2) It could end up like the Al-Qaeda thing all over again and people die. Then they'll get medals of honour and all that.
    3) Absolutely nothing could happen.

But, as more and more women become pilots, less and less people will be thinking that this is an actual accomplishment. True to form, as the parasite has finished sucking all the blood out of this host, they'll move on to the next. Then they'll be looking for the next 'patriarchal' host they can 'equalize' and tear down. Cycle continues.

I say let them continue. Equalize everything. The only thing they will gain is a lifetime of misery, just like men. Being a pilot is hard.

I'll agree to disagree here. There is a reason men are overall IMHO better drivers, hunters, video game players (Hand eye coordination although women can see better at night typically) etc etc etc (Granted we take more risks, but that means we can think outside the box) the hunters and the spear chuckers back in the day to catch animals, as well, spatial distal components in mens brains at a bare minimum comparison side by side with women, make them at a minimum more capable than any female on the planet.

I get frustrated when I call a call center and get some dumb female who cant think outside of the box, this isint that, this is my life in someone's hands, and even if it is autopilot 99.9% of the time, I want an out of the box thinker (I.E. MAN) who can hack it under pressure and not start balling because something went wrong with engine 1 and engine 2 is failing.

I wont be putting my life into the hands of a woman pilot. Period. Just like I wouldn't put any other area of my life into a woman's hands as a MGTOW. Women are the weaker and straight up inferior sex, like it or not. My life isn't some guinea pig experiment for some broad to say she's a pilot when instead of taking some dudes job she should be nurturing a family and not playing pilot.

When I think of the Apollo 13 as an analogy and how much of a disaster it was, and I think of wether or not it was 3 women in that position, I would think they would have died. May sound sexist, but i think that's a realistic assessment.

Just my 2 cents on it.

Wouldn't bother me a bit, provided I could be confident that the same standards are applied to all pilots. But the second I hear in the news about special programs or provisions in order to get more wimminz into the captain's chair, that changes.

If something out of the ordinary happens and the pilot will have to take control you are fucked either way . Cause doesnt matter male or female they will be severely under trained . As it is with every profession on the planet nowadays .

This one I'm actually not onboard with. Modern airliners are highly automated, and the procedures for dealing with faults are well documented. There is no requirement for brute strength involved with flying major airliners - it all has to be hydraulic, since the aerodynamic forces on the flight controls would be too much even for the strongest man to handle. In short, flying a major airliner is not physically demanding anymore.

Smaller prop-based aircraft may be a different story, those can require a bit of muscle power to sort out.
Shame is a womans primary weapon. Watch for it, and call it out wherever you see it. Few women know how to handle a man immune to shame.

What would concern me is that due to quotas that standards were lowered in some way just to meet them. Now, I know I don't have to censor or qualify myself here however in terms of quotas being met I would be concerned if it a non female pilot as well who appears to be there just for quota levels.

My only thought is that if it is an all-female crew, you must respect their sex/gender/whatever, and call the cockpit a cuntpit. (And don’t come to me with this “flight deck” PC nonsense.)
