Re: Thoughts on women flying planes?

    Unpopular opinion: don't care.
They probably don't "drive" (fly) worse than female bus drivers and I've had no negative experiences there either.
And crashes with planes are very rare. Literally rarer than normal traffic accidents.

Only thing I hope for is if the thing goes down, either kill me instantly or leave me in one piece. I don't wanna wake up a cripple. Thanks god/satan/cthulhu!

Agreed. And my opinion is that we should let women do all these jobs as strong and independent girls!
How else will they support thenselves and let men go Their Own Way without them?

Do your job and I do not care.

Don't do your job and claim victim hood olympic status/pussy pass and that is when I decide to go talk to your manager/supervisor.

actually... I do have a little respect for some women around WW2... the "WASP"s (Women Armed Service Pilots -- they delivered planes during the war)

furthermore... flying fighter planes would be something in the modern military that could play to a woman's "strengths"... for openers, fighter cockpits are rather cramped (and I would know... we got a mock-up of an f-4 cockpit here at the Air Force Museum.. I'm about 6-foot-2, and the canopy would come to about halfway up my forehead) and women on average tend to have a slightly shorter stature compared to men...
second, I am on the understanding that women tend to have a significantly higher g-force threshold than men do.. so doing those 5 or 6-G turns would be a lot more doable for them....

Yes the ILS tells the pilot where the plane is relative to the correct flight path for landing.
I didn't think autolanding was worth a mention seeing they "account for less then 1% of all landings on commercial flights"
This article confirms what I had heard a while ago.

The article also reminded me that the take off is done manually as well.

True. There is a TV show which follows pilots working for a small Indonesian company flying light aircraft such as Cessna's.
I forget what the show was called but one could make the argument that flying a Cessna is more difficult than flying a commercial jet.
