    Can you speak another language?

Well men, I guess most of you speak English as first language. But I wonder if many guys here speak another language as first language or if some English-speakers can speak other languages. To spread MGTOW messages among other countries would be easier if some guys could translate these messages to other languages. For example, my first language is Portuguese, but I can understand something of English and Spanish.

Well I can speak sinhalese (one of native languages in Sri Lanka), but not very fluently. I can do basic phrases with french. But English is my main thing. Because I like anime I'm hoping to learn Japanese in the near future.

Yarr - total immersion in Mexican Spanish due to living there for 10 years and married into the culture & community.

The most useful quality was to be able to tick off the cops in good street slang with a close approximation to the accent - that made them very uneasy, one could almost see them thinking, "White guy speaking the lingo well. Who is he connected to? Maybe best not put the 'bite' on him"

Re: Can you speak another language?

I learned (or tried to learn) French in middle and high school, but I was put off by a Quebec-born friend of my mom who went out of her way to prove I wasn't up to snuff.

Learned some Spanish (and some Portuguese) during travels in Central and South America.

As Eddie Willers demonstrates, knowing the language is a great benefit when you travel, and a TREMENDOUS one when you expatriate.

Have also wanted to learn German - and perhaps I will do so once I have completed my last batch of professional exams.

English as primary language. Spanish and Italian as secondary languages. Struggling to learn Mandarin Chinese. Infinitely harder as an adult. Wish I'd learned this shit as a toddler.

Spanish. But I have spent little time learning the reading and writing aspect. I need to work on that.

I speak French. Good enough to converse socially, conduct professional discussions, and that. I have a very weird accent in French too. It's part English, part Parisian (I took some formal training) accent, but with a guttural Quebecoise tint. But I can't write French well at all. I learned by listening and talking, the conjugations of verbs are, to me, completely auditory. I wouldn't say I'm illiterate in French, but I spell worse than Terrence Popp.

I'd love to learn German, but I spend all my "second language time" with French to prevent losing my skills. I've gotten worse since moving away from Quebec.

I can read and put together most any languages with halfways normal Roman character sets used. It's really just a matter of context.

Had a ton of lessons on Russian that never stuck.

American Sign Language is my current one that I've really taken a liking to.

I can piss people off in Spanish. But I do that in English, too.

Some years ago, I could generally make myself understood in Spanish, but I could never understand the native speakers.

Re: Can you speak another language?

My first language is French. I can speak and write fluently. And yes, French verb conjugating is complicated, in fact we have a separate dictionary for conjugating verbs (known as a "Bescherelle"). I've never heard of an English dictionary like this, but I did go to a French primary school until I was 14.

I'm Canadian, but not from Québec so I don't have the accent.

Re: Can you speak another language?

My first language is Dutch, though I have always preferred English. I practiced it so much, with native speakers, schools, exchange programs and more that my Dutch accent has almost entirely faded. Now Dutchmen occasionally think I'm a foreigner based on my pronunciation! I have decent grasp of French and German.

Re: Can you speak another language?

Fine. In this moment we have some speakers of English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch, Russian, Romanian,... even Sinhalese.
By the way, what do you think about the name "MGTOW"? In Portuguese it's odd and hard to pronounce and translate. It would be something like HQSSPC (Homens que seguem seu próprio caminho). Is there an easier and clearer synonym to MGTOW? Like simply "free men" or "independent men" or something like that.

Re: Can you speak another language?

My first language is English. I learned French very well though High School, but since then my French has lapsed due to non-use. When I learned Spanish as an adult (immersion classroom environment) I had trouble because I would hear the questions in Spanish, but automatically reply in French. When I travel in Spanish speaking countries where English is not spoken very much (Dominican Republic) I am usually thought to be French; because, apparently, I speak Spanish with a fairly thick French accent. A lot of the time this works to my advantage, as Americans are disdained more than Frenchmen.

Do you still need to commit a crime to come to Australia? Been thinking of moving there until I found out the majority of Aussies are more statist than Nordics.
