Modifying name of sub-forum "Opposing Views"

    Change made.

    July 30

    Hi Jagr,

Would you have a problem if I modified this sub-forum name?

    From: Opposing Views

To: Nonmember Questions & Opposing Views

There are new registrants who have the red pill excitement but not the red pill commitment and they just want to talk to us. So, they register.

Sometimes it is obvious that they are purple pill. Other times, I have to question them, then close their accounts as non-MGTOW.

I'll get one of these guys now and then. Had a few of them lately. I have referred non-MGTOW allies to our Opposing Views sub-forum but, knowing that they are not opposing us, I always feel compelled to explain that that forum is not just for opposing views.

It occurs to me that changing the forum name might encourage those who are not yet MGTOW to post there to chat with us instead of registering and failing the Intro.

    What do you think?

    The craziest thing...

    From the home page:

    http://www.goingyourownway.com/

I can click on the new sub-forum name Nonmember Questions & Opposing Views and go right to it and see its list of threads.

But only when using IE11 or Microsoft Edge browsers on my PC.

Firefox browser on my PC won't let me do it, I remain on the same home page.

I even tried logging off the site then logging back in. No change. My Firefox worked on that sub-forum before I changed its name.

Does anybody else use Firefox (on a PC or other) and does it work for you?

If it doesn't work on your browser of choice, please indicate the browser, the version if you know it, and type of device (PC, ipad, smartphone, etc.).

    Thanks.

Been using both Brave and Firefox, Windows 10 atm, but Linux as well. At this point, I can't see any sub-forums under that category, or any of the others. I remember folks speaking of music threads and other such things, but couldn't seem to find them.

I am using firefox on arch linux. And I too cannot view that subforum, but only if I am logged in. If I logout, then I can visit it. If I log back in, then I cant.

But, if I open a thread within that subforum (the topmost thread is displayed on the main page), and THEN try to navigate to the subforum from there (using the top navigation bar which says Forum -> [Subforum name] -> [Thread title]), then it works fine.

I assume it worked ok for you before I renamed the sub-forum?

I logged out and, like you, it works when logged out. And, when logged in, I can navigate in the way you described above.

    Thanks.

Yeah, before renaming, it was working fine.

Did that as first thing, didnt work. And furthermore, inspecting the response status in developer console, on clicking that subforum, the status always returns as 301 if done from main forum page, and 200 if done from anywhere else or if not logged in.

Yup. Having the same problem. Using a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium edition 64bit & Firefox Quantum 68.0.1 (64-bit). Always worked fine before renaming.

Ok just noticed this. The link on the main forum points towards :

    http:// www. goingyourownway. com/mgtow-nonmember-questions-and-opposing-views/
Whereas, the link from the navigation bar of any thread on that forum is :
    http: //www. goingyourownway. com/mgtow-nonmember-questions-opposing-views/
The second link works ! You can try it right now :

    First link (doesnt work)

    Second link (works)

    Good catch.

To experiment, I replaced the & with and in the name, but no change. I'll leave it that way for now.

My present choice, it seems, is to undo the rename or ask Jagr to contact his support which may or may not be a chore.

I will google vbulletin forums to see if I stumble upon the issue already reported/discussed by others.

In the mean time, those who are nonmembers, being not logged in, should have no problem clicking on it.
