Men are now afraid to give women CPR in case they’re accused of sexual assault

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/men-now-a...131403949.html

Women who fall over with a heart attack may be left unaided – as men are too afraid to give CPR in case they are accused of sexual assault.

Researchers from the University of Colorado surveyed people on their attitudes in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Interviewees said (among other things) that they feared being accused of inappropriate touching or sexual assault, the researchers found.
Men were twice as likely to cite this fear as a reason for not administering CPR, the researchers found.

well let the bitch die, then.

Just like not stopping to help a woman change a tire or administer the Heimlich maneuver, or even holding a door. It's too risky, best to quietly slip away.

... how's that equality working out now? Mortality rates also equalized? No? Okay, we'll work on that.

All joking aside, it's not just women. People in general don't stop to help folk in distress anymore, since it seems that no good deed goes unpunished. Too many times has a good Samaritan been indicted for trying to do the right thing. So people learn... to walk away.
Shame is a womans primary weapon. Watch for it, and call it out wherever you see it. Few women know how to handle a man immune to shame.

Now I'm not saying I never help, but that depends on my personal cost. If it puts me at risk, be it in form of accusations or physical harm, it can not reasonably be expected that I do so for free or at all.

Much safer to blend into the background and exit the area asap.
As far as women, this is what they wanted. Live with it,.....or in the case die with it.

During the annual first aid class, saving the dummy was my least favorite part.

Having said that, I think I'd still help.

I'm maybe not immune from lawsuits, but since my net worth wouldn't fund the lawyers it would take to go after it, I figure I'm safe enough. But a guy should to do what he thinks right. There are laws to protect those who try to help, but there are none says your required to assist in any way.

I've heard that in France, there is some law which requires 'the citizen' to help out any person in distress if he is aware of such a person in his/her immediate vicinity. Otherwise, you may be punished for 'neglect'.

I don't know how true this is.

One thing I can guarantee you, I definitely would not help a female out in public even if she was being violently assaulted.

I always ask myself, how did she get herself in this position in the first place?

I don't open doors, lift luggage or even give up my seat to even a pregnant woman.
I am sick and fucking tired of taking care of some ungrateful bitch, who isn't going to reciprocate.

All I can say is, "Welcome to equality." As a man, I have learned that no one is going to come running to my rescue unless they are dispatched with a duty to care. I fully accept that society regards me as disposable. I behave accordingly.

    Well, gee, let's see...

Women live longer than men as a group, which is, uh, unfair to men.

Perhaps this can be spun as an attempt to close the survival gap...

Re: Men are now afraid to give women CPR in case they’re accused of sexual assault

About the furthest I'd go is making a token attempt to locate another woman to do the CPR. For a man, doing CPR on a female is too fraught with legal risk nowadays. And lots of people with smartphones are experts at misrepresenting reality. I don't need more bullshit in my life than I already have.

I heard a story once of a person who revived another by using CPR.
However in the panic of doing CPR the person broke the ribs of the person being revived.
Instead of being greatful for being saved from death the person sued the other for breaking their ribs.
Not sure what the verdict was but I won't help a person unless I know them.

I've heard that men applying to "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" have taken a nosedive as of late.... seems the men are worried about being misconstrued as child molesters...

All of the dummies used for training are male chests, as far as I have seen. No one in the classes, male or female, gets imprinted with a memory of male hands on a woman's chest performing CPR such that, out in the real world, they can draw upon those images when they see a man performing CPR on a woman. As it stands right now, they can only draw from images of sexual assault or of eroticism, I might say. Helps no one.

Maybe they need to start using dummies with perky breasts, sagging breasts, bazooming breasts, etc., in their CPR classes. So men can get used to getting hands-on with some breasts while female classmates are watching. Women in the classes can watch these men wrap their hands around the issue. So both sexes can see what CPR on a chest with women's breasts looks like in a classroom setting and can draw upon that in the real world setting.

    I'm here to help.

I am actually amazed that didn't happen 20 plus years ago when child abuse/molestation accusations started being common place. No good deed goes unpunished....

Since you have to compress the rib cage, there's not a large margin between too little pressure and breaking ribs. Back I was trained in CPR, a long time ago, the risk of broken ribs was considered an acceptable trade off for saving a life. I won't admit to being trained in CPR in real life, I'm not risking a jail sentence for saving someone else's life. (Immediate relatives, excepted)

I used to volunteer years ago helping kids with reading and also Halloween candy. Not anymore as the risk isn't worth it which is a shame because these children need male adult role models involved in their lives which many severely lack. This saddens me just as much as the possiblity of being falsely accused. But I calculated the risks and I decided that I have to step away and fade into the night that falls every evening that the sun retreats from.

Churches everywhere are looking for male volunteers to help in their kids' ministries. But they can't find any. I mean zero. No one will step up. And it's for the exact reason you state. Men as a class has been wrongly portrayed as a monster, a perv. The results were a long time coming, but they're here. To the class of society that brought this on and has finally begun to suffer its inevitable repercussions, I dedicate this happy little tune:
