yeah.. it was like they were contending that they knew my innermost wants and desires better than I did..... and that is "arrogant presumption", cut and dried.

Re: is being "fixed up" against the Fifth??

I've seen this and been party to it before.

    It's one of 3 things:
    1) The woman who likes you is pushing the man to get you to go out with her.
    2) He's basically being a messenger boy for his wife, who is trying to help her girl-friend with her 'single' status. Standard passive-aggressive bullshit from women who are too cowardly to ask you out on their own.
    3) Misery loves company. He thinks he will be less miserable if he can watch you suffer worse.

Although i will admit, it is an arrogant presumption. What if you were gay, or happy being single? My response to him in all cases would be the same:
    "Mind your business, fool".
I refuse to be a part of the Three Ring Circus: Engagement ring. Wedding ring. Suffer ring.

You can't be king of the world if you're slave to the vag.

When someone pulls that maybe you should give them a dirty look and ask them, "What makes you think I'll date her?"
"Don't follow in my footsteps. I stepped in something."

Re: is being "fixed up" against the Fifth??

Even for my own amusement I am starting to apply the rules of the PC SJW set to myself when dealing with others.

*I have a right to be single, are you implying that you have the right to take that from me?
*Oh, so you know what sort of woman I like do you?
*How nice of you to think that I would just go out with a stranger in the way you would like me to do!
*Do you have any idea what is happening in my life right now, the last thing I want to do is go out with someone!
*Ummmm, sorry how do I know she isn't a serial killer?

Men are supposed to feel oh so lucky that a woman might be interested in us. Let them know we don't care. I'm not American so I don't really understand what the Fifth amendment is but that is how I would respond to the situation or just walk away and not say a word.

An escort is a woman you occasionally financially support only when she has sex with you.

A date is a woman you occasionally financially support in the hope she will have sex with you.

A wife is a woman you constantly financially support even when she is not having sex with you.

An ex-wife is a woman you constantly financially support with alimony so she can have sex......with someone else.

Whew! That manager just pulled the pin out of the grenade he was holding with that comment. If you wanted to get him into big shit then a quick chat with HR would do the job.

Easy way to end this shit. Agree to a date, go on a date, then just do what Sandra Oh does at the 50:00 mark.

Eh, even if your date pays for you, it's still a waste of time. I do like free food and stuff but if that requires me to clown around for some golden cunt, I'd rather not bother. Besides, while I do know some guys who've had the free meal date, the same was never offered to me (okay, once, but I don't know if that counts as a "date" in the traditional sense). Except from other guys, so maybe I should go full-on gay?

As men we just don't have the same rights that women do. A woman could accept the date, accept the free food, never have to feel any obligation to be friendly or entertaining in any way at all and then just leave. There would be a shit storm if the man even accepted the free food let alone just sit there until the woman made conversation.

So you are right it is still a waste of time.
